Miss Phuong Nga shares about life after nearly 9 months on bail

After nearly 9 months on bail, Phuong Nga has regained her health and spirit. Talking withNgoisao.net, Miss Vietnam in Russia said that the recent Tet Mau Tuat was very meaningful to her. "I had new clothes, a refrigerator full of food, listened to music, and watched fireworks. Thinking back to the two previous Tet holidays when I had to celebrate spring in prison, it felt terrible," Phuong Nga said.

The beauty said that the two times she celebrated Tet in prison were the times she would never forget in her life. "The first year celebrating Tet in a cold cell was really scary. I ate and slept next to the toilet, and every day the officers came in to give me rice twice. I was given a banh chung but because there was no refrigerator, the cake spoiled very quickly. Normally, I was given newspapers to read, but on Tet there were no newspapers at all. My fellow prisoners were also bored and stressed, so they kept arguing with each other. The second year, I had experience, so I felt better. In general, only those who have celebrated Tet in prison can understand what that feeling is like," Phuong Nga recalled.

The beauty queen, born in 1987, currently lives alone in Ho Chi Minh City. She said she is used to being independent, without relatives around. She spends most of her time at home, rarely going out because she is afraid of people recognizing her, pointing at her, and taking pictures. "When I first came back, every time I went out, I caused a scene. I was afraid to go to the supermarket to buy things. Now people pay less attention, but I still limit my appearances in public," she said.

Currently, Phuong Nga and her close friend Thuy Dung are still close, often meeting and sharing joys and sorrows with each other. The beauty queen considers Thuy Dung as a soul mate in all areas of life.After Phuong Nga was released on bail, many people offered her a job with a high salary, but the beauty did not accept any of them. "At that time, my health was too weak to do anything. I would go out for a while and then come back and lie down for several days. Recently, Thuy Dung's father, a traditional doctor, prescribed a lot of traditional medicine for the two of us to drink, so we gradually recovered and are fine now," Phuong Nga said.

Nearly 9 months since being released on bail, Phuong Nga still feels that life outside is still strange and new. At the beginning of the year of Mau Tuat, she and Thuy Dung invited each other to go to the temple, burn incense to pray for peace. In the near future, Phuong Nga plans to return to her previous job as an MC. A few days ago, she created a new personal page to connect and chat with friends and old colleagues.

Miss Truong Ho Phuong Nga was once accused with her friend Nguyen Duc Thuy Dung of tricking Mr. Cao Toan My into buying a cheap house and appropriating 16.5 billion VND. In September 2016, in her first trial, Phuong Nga affirmed that there was no house sale between her and the American tycoon. The two were in a relationship and the 16.5 billion VND she received was a love agreement between the two parties over 7 years.

When the two had a conflict, Mr. My wanted to get his money back. Nga accused Mr. My of violating the marriage regime, while he accused her of borrowing money and not paying it back, then changed to accusing her of cheating her into buying a cheap house... During the investigation, the beauty queen remained silent about the accusations, saying she "doesn't trust anyone, including the investigators."

After reinvestigation, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court held a second trial at the end of June 2017. Because the basis for the charges against the two defendants had many unclear points, the court requested further investigation. Phuong Nga and Thuy Dung were released on bail but were prohibited from leaving their place of residence.
