The United States admits a decline in military readiness.
The US Government Accountability Office has admitted a decline in the country's military readiness in recent years, RT reported, referring to the agency's report.

It is noted that the country's overall level of combat readiness remains low and has shown no improvement since 2013. The reasons for this state of affairs, according to the report's authors, are the United States' involvement in military conflicts, "uncertainty" about funding and cuts in the military structure.
At the same time, the document also said that "adversaries" of the United States in recent years have improved their military capabilities.
"The primary objective for the U.S. Army Command is to restore combat readiness…, as well as prepare for potential large-scale military operations against world-class adversaries such as Russia or China," the report said.
The authors of the document emphasize that the Pentagon has recently had to make difficult decisions. The situation is complicated by problems with the allocation of troops in the fields of cyber security, electronic warfare and the lack of military personnel to serve in the Patriot and THAAD air defense missile systems.
