Young soldiers leave for the 2016 Military Semester. |
Starting in 2011, the program has been implemented through 5 courses. In the summary and evaluation of the "Military Semester" program for youth in the period 2012 - 2015, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union was one of 15 units awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Central Youth Union and the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army for their good implementation of the program's content.
The effectiveness and reach of the program have been clearly demonstrated. In the first year, only 60 students participated, in the fifth year, there were 350 students, and this year, the sixth year, has received nearly 2,000 applications and selected more than 500 students to attend the class.
This year, some students have attended the class for the third time and are still excited. What makes us happiest and most excited is the positive feedback from families and parents.
After the course, their children have made great progress, both in their awareness and actions in studying and in life. Some parents even said that their children expressed their desire to stay in the class longer and more often.
For the Organizing Committee, it is considered a great success, as well as an encouragement for us to continue organizing the next courses.
PV:So what is new about this year's course program compared to previous courses, sir?
Comrade Duong Hoang Vu:This year's program content will stick to three main themes: "Learning to be a soldier", "Journey back to the roots", and "Exploring experiences".
The topic “Learning to be a soldier” includes learning regulations, orders and practicing formations and teams; training in personal hygiene in the army; first aid training; camping practice, forest skills, how to hang a hammock, march and sleep overnight in the forest.
The theme "Journey back to the roots" will organize visits to historical sites, activities to repay gratitude, social security, volunteering, environmental protection, and music exchanges with soldiers.
The theme of “exploring experiences” will help children discover their personality, awaken their passions; emotions when away from home, write diaries, write letters to relatives, etc.

This year, the Organizing Committee focuses more on the content and lectures that are suitable for the psychology and age of adolescents. Therefore, right from the stage of selecting lecturers, the Organizing Committee has carefully considered and selected to guide the children to the values of truth - goodness - beauty in life.
In addition, students will also have the opportunity to interact and meet famous artists, so that together with the hours of study and strict discipline training, it will create an open environment for students to freely play and easily share.
PV:To best prepare for the program "Semester in the Army" 2016, what steps did the Organizing Committee take, comrade?
Comrade Duong Hoang Vu:The program is organized and implemented by the coordination between the Provincial Youth Union, Military School of Military Region 4 and the Department of Education and Training. The Provincial Youth Union advises on assigning tasks, developing scenarios, arranging skill instructors, organizing cultural and artistic exchanges, and extracurricular activities.
The Department of Education and Training coordinates the selection of students to participate in the program. The Military School of Military Region 4 arranges the location, prepares the facilities, directs the unit to organize screening for students, and arranges military medical staff to be on duty 24/7 during the program.
We also recruited nearly 100 volunteers to support and serve the program; trained and provided basic skills for volunteers in caring for and managing students.
PV:Do you have any message for parents and students participating in the course?
Comrade Duong Hoang Vu:For students, we request that they strictly comply with the management, guidance and abide by the rules and regulations of the class, teachers, coordinators, and actively participate in activities. We hope that students will perform well in the content, overcome challenges, and surpass themselves to become more mature. We also hope that parents will cooperate, share, and accompany the Organizing Committee so that the course can be successful.
PV:Thank you for the discussion, comrade.
