Students who win international gold medals are rewarded 50 times their base salary?
Considering that the reward system for students who win national and international prizes is still low, the Ministry of Education proposed expanding the scope of the rewards and increasing the reward levels.
The Ministry of Education and Training is drafting a new decree on the reward regime for students who win prizes in national and international competitions for excellent students and national and international vocational skills.
The Ministry of Education proposes to use the basic salary as the basis for calculating bonuses. Students who win international gold medals will be rewarded with 50 times the basic salary (with the current salary of 1.3 million VND, the bonus will be about 65 million VND); international silver medals will be 33 times the basic salary (42.9 million VND); international bronze medals will be 22 times the basic salary (28.6 million VND).

The winner of the International Encouragement Prize will be awarded 12 times the basic salary (15.6 million). The regional prize winner will have a proposed bonus of 5.2 million to 42.9 million; the national prize winner will have a bonus of 1.9 million to 5.2 million VND. According to this plan, the average total annual budget bonus will be about 5 billion VND.
The Ministry of Education also proposed to expand the form of rewards, according to the principle that achievements with a large scope of influence are rewarded at a higher level. The new level of reward is to award the Labor Medal to students who win international gold and silver medals; the Minister's Certificate of Merit is awarded to international encouragement prizes, regional bronze medals, regional encouragement prizes and students who win national prizes.
In addition, the Ministry of Education also proposed to add rewards for students with high achievements in applied scientific and technological research, and achievements in other specialized fields at national and international levels. The new policy aims to encourage students to actively study and conduct scientific research.
