(Baonghean.vn) - After 4 years of implementing the project "Women participating in environmental protection", Nghe An Women's Union at all levels has carried out 3,115 practical environmental protection works and tasks; 42 typical collectives and individuals were commended.

On the morning of May 30, the Provincial Women's Union held a conference to summarize 4 years of implementing the project "Propaganda and mobilization of rural women to participate in environmental protection, contributing to the construction of new rural areas in the province in the period of 2018 - 2021"; commending 42 typical collectives and individuals in environmental protection.
Project "Propaganda and mobilization of rural women to participate in environmental protection, contributing to"New rural construction in the province for the period 2018 - 2021" was approved by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 1241/QD-UBND, dated April 6, 2018.
Based on the project, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union develops an implementation plan for the entire period and each specific year to direct all levels of the union to deploy with practical, focused, key contents and activities suitable for each locality and unit.

Notable activities include communication, raising knowledge and awareness of environmental protection for officials, members, women and people.
In 4 years, the association at all levels has organized 1,065 training courses on environmental protection, economical and efficient use of energy; organized 395 forums, competitions, seminars, and propaganda activities on environmental protection at provincial and district levels.

Every year, on the occasion of World Environment Day; National Week on Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation, in conjunction with communication activities for women to join hands to protect the environment, reduce plastic waste and nylon bags; all levels of women's associations in the province organize campaigns to collect waste and protect the environment.
In parallel with the above activities, the association at all levels has also built and replicated many meaningful models, projects and tasks; linked the implementation of the project with the campaign "Building a family of 5 no's, 3 clean's", building new rural areas and civilized urban areas in localities.
The most effective and widespread models are "Clean house, clean alley, clean environment"; "Turning waste into useful products"; "Turning waste into breeding stock"; "Turning waste into useful work"; "Classifying waste at source"; "Women self-managing green, clean, beautiful rural roads"; "Producing safe vegetables"; "Clean house, beautiful garden", "Model clean house, beautiful garden"; "Women self-managing the environment" group...

The association levels have also actively implemented the program "Each member has a tree, each association has a green tree project" and as a result, more than 1 million trees have been planted, including 365,981 perennial trees. Mobilizing over 5.3 billion VND to socialize the construction of 4,369 flower and tree roads chaired by the association levels with a length of 10,026 km with more than 1 million trees and flowers of all kinds.
In 4 years, 3,115 projects and works were implemented; 56 models of clean houses and beautiful gardens; 738 5 no 3 clean branches; 1,560 blooming roads, model roads, 5,410 households were supported by the Association to achieve 8 criteria, 140 model "Green fence" models were built with a total length of 130,000m; contributing to the province's successful construction of 280 communes and 05 districts meeting new rural standards.
Based on the assessment of the results achieved and lessons learned, the Provincial Women's Union continues to set one of the key tasks and the mark of Nghe An's union work, which is environmental protection work, to continue to strengthen propaganda, improve knowledge, awareness and action among union officials at all levels, union members and women in the province regarding environmental protection work, continuing to contribute to creating a positive change in this work throughout the province.
On this occasion, the Provincial Women's Union commended 21 collectives and 21 individuals with many achievements in implementing the project "Propaganda and mobilizing rural women to participate in environmental protection, contributing to the construction of new rural areas in the province in the period of 2018 - 2021" in particular and environmental protection work in general.
