On the morning of December 7, the Department of Education and Training in collaboration with Vietnam Electronic Books and Learning Materials Development Investment Joint Stock Company and Nghe An Books and School Equipment Joint Stock Company opened a training course on the ICDL International Informatics program for staff and teachers of educational institutions in Nghe An province.

This is one of the contents deployed to successfully implement the innovation plan, improve the quality of teaching and learning IT according to international standards for students in Nghe An province. This plan is implemented according to Decision No. 1521/QD-UBND dated June 18, 2024 of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee approving the Project "Improving IT capacity for high school students in Nghe An province according to international standards, period 2024-2030".

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training course, Mr. Vo Van Mai - Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training highly appreciated the significance of this program. In the context of the 2024-2025 school year, the school year completing the replacement of textbooks according to the 2018 General Education Program, teaching and learning Information Technology becomes even more practical.

Accordingly, if previously, the subject of Information Technology in the old program was only an optional subject in junior high school and an optional subject in high school, then in the 2018 General Education Program, Information Technology has been taught from grade 3 and has become a compulsory subject in all grades. In particular, this year, Information Technology will be one of the subjects that students can choose to take the high school graduation exam.

In response to the above changes, the leader of the Department of Education and Training affirmed: “The Party and the State always highly appreciate the position and importance of IT education in schools. In the context of the country's development, especially in the process of implementing the digital economy and digital transformation, the role and significance of IT in education become more prominent.”

Based on this reality, in the past time, the Education sector has consulted with the Provincial People's Committee and has approved the Project "Improving IT capacity for high school students in Nghe An province according to international standards, period 2024-2030".

To successfully implement the project, improving the capacity of core IT teachers according to international standards at high school and other levels is of particular importance. The training content focuses on 3 main areas: Basic Applied IT, Advanced Applied IT and Computer Science.

After completing the International Informatics training course, teachers will be awarded a certificate of completion, take the exam and receive the ICDL international certificate. The Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training expressed his hope that when teachers return to teaching practice, they will apply positive innovations to improve teaching quality and approach international standards.

In addition, teachers need to spread positive values ​​to colleagues inside and outside the school, and develop professional capacity together. This will contribute to the effective and quality implementation of the 2018 General Education Program, and at the same time, promote digital transformation in the education sector. This is also an important premise to ensure the quality of education in each institution.

At the opening ceremony of the training course on the implementation of the International Information Technology Program, Mr. Diep Xuan Tuan Anh - representative of the ICDL Organization in Vietnam shared about some activities of the ICDL Organization in Vietnam and around the world. This is the organization that manages the global set of certificates for information technology skills. After more than 20 years of establishment and development, the ICDL certificate set has been present in more than 100 countries and territories, with 24,000 testing centers and has become a globally recognized standard for assessing information technology skills.

The ICDL International Computer Science Program has a very diverse target audience, including primary and secondary school students, university and postgraduate students, and even working people in many different fields and professions. The goal of ICDL is to popularize information technology skills for the whole society, helping to keep up with the development of digital technology worldwide.

The representative of ICDL Organization committed to accompany Nghe An Books and School Equipment Joint Stock Company to deploy the ICDL Program extensively and qualitatively to schools in Nghe An province, including Primary, Secondary and High School levels. This is to contribute to the effective implementation of the project's objectives.

According to the plan, the training program will take place in 2 phases: Phase 1 from December 7-9, with the participation of more than 120 high school IT teachers; Phase 2 from December 14-16, with about 130 middle school IT teachers expected to participate.

The training content focuses on sharing knowledge, skills, teaching experience, along with effective approaches to students in the subject of Information Technology according to the International Information Technology Program.
