Nghe An will invest nearly 300 billion VND to improve IT capacity for high school students in the period 2024 - 2030.
This is the expected funding source to be provided by the province to implement the Project to improve IT capacity for high school students in Nghe An province according to international orientation, period 2024 - 2030.
The Provincial People's Committee has just issued Decision No. 1521/QD-UB approving the Project to improve IT capacity for high school students in Nghe An province according to international standards, period 2024 - 2030.
The project aims to improve the quality of teaching and learning of Information Technology in general schools at each level according to the 2018 General Education Program, equipping students with computer skills according to international standards, helping them become global citizens.

According to this project, from 2025 to 2030, Nghe An will invest more than 299 billion VND to implement the contents. Of which, the budget for teacher training is more than 10 billion VND; the budget from the allocation after purchasing computers is more than 216 billion VND and the socialized budget for purchasing computers is more than 72 billion VND.
With this investment fund, Nghe An sets a target of 100% of educational institutions being equipped with enough computers, having enough teachers, being trained according to the 2018 General Education Program and international standards; 100% of educational institutions organizing the quality and effective implementation of the 2018 General Education Program in the subject of Information Technology, with 30% of educational institutions implementing the program to enhance the subject of Information Technology according to international standards.
Previously, from 2019 to 2023, the province invested more than 51 billion VND to purchase computers for schools with more than 4,500 sets of computers. Thereby, the number of computers currently available in schools is more than 22,000. Currently, 100% of schools have organized IT teaching for students.

However, besides the advantages, teaching IT in schools also has shortcomings. Specifically, although the 2018 General Education Program has made IT an official subject in Primary schools for grades 3, 4, and 5. However, many schools currently do not have enough computer rooms, computers, and lack IT teachers. The IT program in general schools is slow to update according to actual developments, failing to meet the needs of students, parents, and society.
In addition, the expansion of teaching and learning of the International Standard Information Technology Program in general schools faces many difficulties; there is a lack of mechanisms to develop programs and call for socialization; there is a lack of synchronous and standardized investment in facilities; the qualifications of the Information Technology teaching staff are still uneven, insufficient in quantity and do not ensure both professional and technical qualifications.
According to the plan, this Project will be implemented from 2024 - 2030 and divided into 2 phases, phase 1 from 2024 - 2026 and phase 2 from 2027 - 2030. According to the province's project, based on each content, every year, relevant agencies and units will develop specific plans for each task, ensuring the timely implementation of the Project./.
