More than 300 people participate in forest fire fighting drill in Yen Thanh

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 27, in Vinh Thanh commune, the Steering Committee for urgent issues in forest fire prevention and protection in Yen Thanh district organized a 2016 forest fire prevention and protection drill.

Over 300 people from the militia, forest protection team, and forest households in 3 hamlets: Tan Vinh, Cao Son, Ngoc Thanh, Vinh Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district in 3 directions mobilized to approach and control the fire.

In this exercise, the District Exercise Steering Committee presented many hypothetical situations for the leaders of Vinh Thanh commune to discuss, implement, and propose effective, practical solutions. Clearly demonstrating the role and responsibility of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Steering Committee and the forces directly involved in forest fire prevention and fighting in the locality.

The situation is that a fire broke out at the peak of 115, sub-area 981, the special pine forest of Cao Son hill, belonging to Tan Vinh, Cao Son, and Ngoc Thanh hamlets. This is an area with steep terrain, a lot of ground cover, some places 20-30cm thick, far from residential areas, far from water sources, easy to burn and difficult to extinguish.

Upon receiving the information, Vinh Thanh commune mobilized over 300 people from the militia, forest protection team, and forest households of 3 hamlets: Tan Vinh, Cao Son, and Ngoc Thanh to coordinate smoothly, dividing into 3 mobile teams to approach and control the fire.

Forces approached to put out the fire

Through the drill, the spirit of vigilance, coordination mechanism, management and good implementation of the motto "4 on-site" in PCCCR has been further enhanced. Thanks to proactively developing plans early, arranging forces, investing in purchasing fire prevention equipment and tools such as field pumps, blowers, fire extinguishers, rakes, plastic cans, etc. After more than 20 minutes, the fires were extinguished, ensuring the safety of people and forest resources.

The fire was so high and the weather was hot that someone was suffocated. The authorities promptly transferred them to the rear for treatment.

Use field water sprayers and blowers to deal with the fire's residue and prevent it from re-igniting.
