More than 5,000 tons of fresh peanuts to serve the holiday market

In the peanut field in Hamlet 6, Dien Hung Commune (Dien Chau), thanks to early planting, the peanuts are ripe, and farmers harvest and sell them at the field for 12,000 - 13,000 VND/kg. This year, farmers are excited because there are more peanuts than last year, with an estimated harvest of 350 - 400 kg of fresh peanuts/sao.

Ms. Cao Thi Le is harvesting peanuts and said: This year's peanut crop is good. Out of 4 sao, the family only keeps 2 sao for selling dried peanuts, and the other 2 sao for selling fresh peanuts. Selling fresh peanuts is more profitable because it doesn't have to be dried in the sun, and the price is the same as selling dried peanuts. The family earns nearly 9 million VND/2 sao.

Ms. Le Thi Thuong said: After harvesting, people pick the fruit right in the field, pack it and the traders buy it quickly. We should do it early to sell it more easily, in the mass crop it will be difficult to sell and the price will be lower.

Dien Chau planted 3,200 hectares of spring peanuts, of which about 800 hectares were harvested and sold with fresh tubers, equivalent to more than 5,000 tons, equal to 1/4 of the total crop output. Although many places are on holiday, Dien Chau farmers are still working hard in the fields and are happy to have income right on the national holidays.
