(Baonghean.vn) - On March 3, The Lancet magazine published a study proving that global warming will cause more than 500,000 deaths worldwide by 2050 due to changes in diet and nutritional deficiencies.

This is the first study to assess the impacts of climate change on human diet and weight, and to estimate deaths by 2050 across 155 countries.

To date, most research has focused on food security, but little has looked at the broader health impacts of agricultural production, according to Marco Springmann of the University of Oxford, who led the study.

As is known, global warming leads to a series of extreme weather phenomena such as heavy rains and droughts, which seriously affect agricultural production.

As a result, researchers warn that without action to reduce emissions, climate change could reduce the world's food supply by "about a third" by 2050.

This means that on average, each person will have to reduce their daily food intake by 3.2%, their fruit and vegetable intake by 4% and their red meat intake by 0.7% compared to 2010.

As a result, these changes will cause 529,000 deaths by 2050. And obviously, the least developed countries will be the ones most affected.

According to researchers, the Western Pacific region will have 264,000 deaths, Southeast Asia will have about 164,000 cases. China alone will have 248,000 deaths, and India will have about 136,000 people die due to malnutrition./.
