While escorting a wanted man to the police station, the Chief of Police of a commune in Ca Mau was surrounded and beaten with beer bottles by more than a dozen young men, freeing the criminal.

On August 27, Tran Van Thoi District Police (Ca Mau) detained Nguyen Van Nhut (22 years old) to investigate the crime of Intentional Infliction of Injury.

According to the investigation, Nhut was wanted in another case. Three days ago, the Chief of Police of Khanh Binh Tay Bac Commune, Nguyen Thanh Tu, discovered him drinking near his house in Mui Tram A Hamlet, so he surrounded and arrested him.

While escorting Nhut out, Tu and four police officers were surrounded and beaten by more than a dozen young men who were drinking with them, using beer bottles and sticks. "Because they were attacked unexpectedly and there were fewer people, the commune police force let Nhut escape. Tu was hit in the head and needed seven stitches," said an officer.

A day after escaping with his group of friends, Nhut turned himself in. The police are persuading the others to come forward.
