This is the only hamlet where people from Nam Dan district have followed the Party's call to migrate and reclaim new economic zones in Chau Thanh commune since 1983.

In the process of reclaiming new economic zones, they brought a type of tree to plant, "Hong uc", a type of woody plant that produces delicious fruit and has high economic value. Hong uc is suitable for mountainous land. After 4 years of planting and care, it will yield fruit once a year. The fruiting cycle is very long, up to 30 years.

Currently, Hang village has 24 households growing "hong duc" trees with an area of about 10 hectares. On average, each tree yields about 300 kg of fruit. With current market prices ranging from 15,000 VND to 20,000 VND/kg, each tree brings in an income of about 4.5 to 6 million VND.

The family of Mr. Tran Van Khanh and Ms. Nguyen Thi Sau is a household with 30 rose bushes. They said: "Rose bushes are very easy to grow, you can grow them yourself from the roots or buy them at a plant nursery. The planting and care process is very easy. After digging a hole, fertilizing with manure and lime, plant the tree about 20m to 30m apart, only need to hoe and fertilize once a year, after 4 years you can start harvesting." Rose bushes are harvested from October to December of the solar calendar.

After picking the fruit, soak it in clean cold water for about 4 to 5 days, then take it out to dry and then leave it for a day before eating. When eaten, the persimmon has a sweet, crunchy taste that is very suitable for dessert. Every year, from more than 30 persimmon trees, Mr. Khanh and Ms. Sau's family earn over 120 million VND.

In addition to Mr. Khanh and Ms. Sau's family, Hang village currently has 24 households growing persimmon trees, with about 5 households growing more than 40 trees. Typical examples are the families of Mr. Tran Van Minh, Ho Viet Viet, Nguyen Thi Nga... Growing persimmon trees brings in an annual income of more than 1 billion VND to Hang village.

The persimmon tree has taken root in Chau Thanh and contributed to poverty reduction in the locality. Talking to us, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, Secretary of the Chau Thanh Commune Party Committee, who is also a 24-household Nam Dan immigrant to Ban Hang, said: "Chau Thanh is a mountainous commune of Quy Hop district, with a large area of hills and mountains. The effectiveness of the persimmon tree has brought about a number of Thai households in Ban Hang to learn and grow persimmons, such as the families of Mr. Luong Van Thanh and Sam Van Ngoc.

Currently, we are planning to expand the planting of rose apple trees to some neighboring villages such as Ban Cai and Pieng Cam to increase income and diversify fruit trees for easier consumption on the market.
