The City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City solemnly held a traditional meeting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of Mau Than in 1968.

On the evening of January 30, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City solemnly held a traditional meeting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of Mau Than in 1968.

Attending the event were Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, former President Nguyen Minh Triet, former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An; Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan; Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Tran Thanh Man; former Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Pham The Duyet.

Also attending were representatives of the Central Ministries, Departments, and Unions, along with veteran revolutionaries, Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, and comrades who participated in the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of Mau Than 1968.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, reviewed the preparation and entry process for the Mau Than Spring General Offensive and Uprising 1968. From the night of January 30 to the morning of January 31, 1968 (the first day of the Mau Than Lunar New Year), cadres, soldiers, and armed forces of Saigon-Gia Dinh and other southern localities entered the 1968 Spring General Offensive and Uprising. Revolutionary soldiers and families with revolutionary contributions sacrificed their blood, bones, and property to gain independence and freedom for the country to have today. This is a mirror reminding every Vietnamese person of a heroic and proud historical lesson of the nation.

Expressing his deep gratitude and appreciation to the heroic martyrs, revolutionary soldiers and families with revolutionary contributions, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan affirmed that with the spirit of "For the whole country, with the whole country", Ho Chi Minh City will do its utmost to effectively implement the Party Resolution, the Resolution of the 10th City Party Congress; Conclusion 21 of the Politburo on the 5-year review of the implementation of Resolution No. 16-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the direction and tasks of the City's development until 2020; Resolution 54 of the National Assembly on piloting special mechanisms and policies for the development of Ho Chi Minh City. Thereby, Ho Chi Minh City, together with the whole country, contributes to the development of the country; worthy of the soldiers who sacrificed their blood and bones for the independence and freedom of the nation./.
