Huong Tram: The Voice Champion at 17 and the unforgettable mistake with singer Thu Minh

The first season of "The Voice" attracted attention because of the novelty of the competition. From the stage decoration to the structure of the rounds and the four faces of the jury, the audience was curious.

The reason why Huong Tram sings so well and powerfully is because she has genes from her family. Huong Tram was born and raised in Vinh City (Nghe An), in a well-educated, powerful family. Her father is People's Artist Tien Dung, currently holding the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An.

It is known that,People's Artist Tien DungHe used to be a geological engineer. However, his love for folk songs brought him to music and stuck with it. When he was young, he was an actor and singer of the Nghe An Traditional Music and Dance Troupe. Later, he was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist and People's Artist by the State for his contributions and dedication to traditional music.

Although she had a good initial foundation, in order to compete with excellent singers like Truc Nhan, Bui Anh Tuan, Dinh Huong, Huong Tram also had great support from singer Thu Minh. She was Huong Tram's first professional teacher, helping the 17-year-old girl to sing clearly, to raise her voice and to express her emotions in each note.

Huong Tram herself once admitted on her personal page: "Without Thu Minh, there would be no Huong Tram today". Although they were together for a short time during the competition, a smart student like Huong Tram would be able to grasp everything. And not letting Thu Minh and the audience down, Huong Tram became the champion of that year's competition.

Becoming famous in this competition, but also in the place of glory, Huong Tram made a mistake at the age of 17. This is considered the most difficult scratch to erase in the artistic career of the female singer from Nghe An. Huong Tram's mistake started from a conflict with the teacher who made her name, singer Thu Minh.

Specifically, in November 2013, Thu Minh surprised her fans with an interview saying that after the contest, Huong Tram had almost cut off contact with her, so she had no idea what to do. This post was widely circulated and raised suspicions about the rift between the two. Huong Tram then posted a letter on her personal page, recalling a serious quarrel between the two teachers and students, accusing Truc Nhan of being a flatterer to please Thu Minh.

Huong Tram affirmed that despite being put at the center of bad things because of Thu Minh's statement, she still always worships her senior. This letter from Huong Tram not only did not receive sympathy but also caused her to receive strong reactions from the online community.

Soon after, she had to close her personal page for a while. Some time later, Huong Tram said that she wrote the letter in a state of unconsciousness due to insomnia and prolonged stress. If she could go back in time, she would not write like that and would like to apologize to Thu Minh and Truc Nhan.

This incident made Huong Tram sad and her family was also heartbroken when seeing their child in such a situation. Responding to the press recently, Huong Tram's father, People's Artist Tien Dung, confided for the first time: "Of all the things people say about Huong Tram, the story about Huong Tram and Thu Minh makes me feel sad, hurt and sympathetic. Before that, I also knew about Thu Minh and had a very emotional conversation with Thu Minh.And I cried all night, crying and writing a letter to Huong Tram. I wrote that this was the reason why my father did not want me to enter the arts. He was very sad because he still had work, he could not quit it to go to Saigon to be with me, to help me face the challenges of life.".

After this mistake, Huong Tram apologized to Thu Minh three times but received no response. She felt tired at times and expressed her hope of receiving forgiveness from her teacher.

Before the live show, Huong Tram choked up and expressed her wish to stand on the same stage with singer Thu Minh. She said: "My dream and wish is to invite Thu Minh to participate in the live show. If that happens, I will be very happy but this is very difficult to come true.".
