Huong Tram: 'I will not drink alcohol offered by the audience while singing'

- Recently, you attended an event with a handsome Western man. What is your relationship with this mysterious man?

- He is a model from Sweden, he knows Cao Thai Son so he wanted to come with me to celebrate the MV press conference. He and I may collaborate on a music video soon, we are just normal friends, not like everyone thinks.

I'm so lonely now, still searching and waiting for love. (laughs)

-In the final round of The Remix, you and Bui Anh Tuan had a passionate performance that made MC Thanh Trung think that you were still thinking about your ex. You are lonely, so how do you feel when you meet your ex?

- Tuan and I are now completely colleagues and friends. During the last tour, we were very happy and normal with each other. Even now, I see us as more like sisters than boyfriend and girlfriend. Over the past 4 years, I feel like I have grown up a lot but "that boy" is still as adorable and childish as ever. Tuan now is no different from when we first met. I also don't know if he has a girlfriend yet?

- You consider yourself more mature, so how has your perspective on love changed?

- Before, I liked people who matched my appearance, hot boys also easily made me fall in love. However, after many things happened, I realized that I needed a big enough shoulder to lean on - a man with a lot of experience, who can give me good advice when I stumble.

I have loved a lot and suffered a lot, so I am a bit numb. Sometimes, I also wish to have a man by my side so I can sing more emotionally. However, I am single but I can still sing the song "Stupid" quite well, so I don't need to fall in love yet. (laughs)

- The men who meet your criteria are often older or have even experienced broken marriages. What do you fear about this?

- For married people, my family and I never agree. As for mature men, it will be normal if the age gap is not too big.

- Is Huong Tram a jealous person?

- Only when you love someone do you get jealous, however, I get jealous of others more than I get jealous of them. Due to the nature of my job, I have to travel abroad a lot, so if he gets too jealous, I have to use reason to say goodbye. This is a story I have experienced. At this time, I want to focus on my career more than anything else. Because when I am striving like that, I cannot let love affect me negatively. At the age of 21, I have more important things to do than to be absorbed in love.

- The Remix 2016 was considered unsuccessful. For you personally, what does this program bring?

- I don't know about others, but I have gained a lot, especially the fact that my new image is gradually accepted and loved. In the first weeks of competition, there were still some negative comments, but gradually I received positive feedback. The show organizers also acknowledged that I can not only sing but also combine it with dancing.

- When performing on overseas stages, have you ever encountered incidents when the audience got too excited?

- That is a very familiar thing, especially for female singers. When singers perform, being offered alcohol by the audience is a normal thing, however, we cannot control everything. If there is anything in the alcohol, it can easily lead to bad problems. Before, I drank a glass of strong alcohol given by the audience, because of my low alcohol tolerance, I got drunk and felt tired. But luckily I was still able to control everything.

Since then, I never drink alcohol while singing, and if invited, I will tactfully decline, making an appointment after the show. For male artists, this is not too sensitive, like the case of Cao Thao Son, who had his shirt snatched and torn, but we are women so these issues are very awkward.

These things are probably normal to the culture and lifestyle of overseas audiences. Meanwhile, in Vietnam, people are thinking the problem is going too far. Artists themselves never want to be involved in bad things that affect their image. Audiences who love artists, please stand by us.
