Mobilizing all forces to reinforce Vinh River dike in face of high risk of landslide
(Baonghean.vn) - Floodwaters on the Vinh River are rising, causing a 50m dike in Tan Phuong block (Vinh Tan Ward, Vinh City) to collapse at any time. Vinh Tan Ward is currently directing forces to urgently reinforce it.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Manh - Chairman of Vinh Tan Ward People's Committee - who is directly directing the dike reinforcement work said: As soon as the Vinh River water level rose, we established a team to inspect and discovered that the section passing through Tan Phuong block was very weak, and needed to be reinforced promptly and reported the current situation to the City People's Committee. We have mobilized on-site vehicles to do our best to reinforce this vulnerable dike section.

According to the reporter's records, currently WardVinh Tan mobilized 2 excavators, 10 trucks and 60 people including officials, people and police force of the ward to urgently reinforce 50m of the dike. It is expected to be completed tomorrow, the volume of soil to reinforce is about 200m3.

During the recent flood, Vinh Tan Ward had 7 blocks in the localized flood area, in which nearly 400 households had their houses flooded. Located on the dike south of Vinh River, there are currently 122 households in 5 blocks that are flooded. The 2.2 km long dike flowing through Vinh Tan Ward is very weak and needs to be reinforced to avoid the risk of landslides and breaches.dike. |
