Indonesia: Landslide buries many villages, 12 people die tragically
Twelve people, including three children, have died after a devastating landslide buried several villages on the Indonesian tourist island of Bali.

Today (February 10), a local official on the tourist island of Bali (Indonesia) said that 12 people (9 adults and 3 children) died after a landslide submerged 3 villages in Kintamani district.
The landslide occurred last night (February 9) and lasted until this morning. Prior to that, Bali island had been experiencing heavy rain all day. To prevent further casualties due to further landslides, villagers were evacuated from the danger zone.
Five injured people are currently being treated in hospital, three of whom are seriously injured. Many houses were buried or severely damaged.

Landslides and floods occur frequently in Indonesia, especially during the rainy season which peaks in January and February. Previously, in December 2016, floods and landslides occurred in Garut (Java Island, Indonesia) killing 29 people.
