On March 25, 1969, legendary British singer John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono staged a "bed protest"in Amsterdam, Netherlands toprotest against the Vietnam War. The event attracted worldwide press attention.

After the wedding, John and his wife barricaded themselves in the presidential suite at the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam, decorating the bed with hand-painted banners reading “Peace in Bed” and “Peace in Hair.” They invited journalists into the room to discuss peace for 12 hours a day, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

"We sent out a card: 'To John and Yoko's honeymoon: bed protest, Amsterdam hotel,'" Lennon wrote.

"You should have seen the faces of the journalists and photographers rushing through the door. Because, no matter what, people's minds are full of thoughts about what they think is going to happen. They rush in and their faces are downcast... There we were, like two angels on the bed, surrounded by flowers, love and peace in our minds. We were fully clothed, the bed was just an accessory. We were wearing pajamas, but not much different from normal clothes - no show".

John Lennon and Yoko Ono's bed protest lasted for seven consecutive days, according to Time.
