Four days later, Chau drove his girlfriend to a deserted place near a supermarket in Bien Hoa to talk. While they were talking in the car, he checked her phone but was jealous because she resisted.

Chau pretended to tell the girl to close her eyes to give her a gift, then covered her mouth and took out a knife to cut her throat, causing her to die on the spot. He used a towel to wipe the blood, put the body in the passenger seat and drove home. On the way, he stopped to buy 2 bottles of pesticide.

That same afternoon, upon arriving in Can Tho, the suspect drove into a deserted area next to the Vinh Thanh District administrative center and drank a bottle of medicine. After being poisoned, Chau opened the door and ran outside. He was discovered by local people and taken to the emergency room in time, thus surviving.
