Nghe An Provincial People's Court has just opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendant Vi Van Ha (born 1997), residing in Chieu Luu commune, Ky Son district, for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking”.

In 2014, Vi Van Ha was sentenced to 2 years in prison for human trafficking. After serving his sentence, Ha returned to his hometown and often used drugs. Therefore, this subject often went to the hill area of Na Ngoi commune, Ky Son district to buy opium for use.

On March 10, 2021, Ha continued to go to the same place, bought 2 pink pills from a man named Va to use. Here, Va asked Ha to transport drugs. "How will you pay me?" Ha asked and Va said: he would give 10 million VND on the condition of transporting 2 heroin cakes.

Ha agreed so she received the "goods" and got the person's phone number.buy drugs. On the evening of March 15, after being contacted by a drug buyer to receive the goods, Ha went to the meeting point in Chieu Luu commune, Ky Son district. After many hours of waiting, at 4:00 a.m. on March 16, Vi Van Ha was arrested by the police. A check of the jacket Ha was wearing revealed 2 heroin cakes with a weight of more than 700 grams of drugs.

At the trial, the defendant admitted to transporting drugs because he was greedy for the 10 million VND salary. The defendant said that because he was addicted to drugs and needed money to spend, he agreed to sell the drugs.

Considering that the defendant's actions violated the law, the People's Court sentenced defendant Vi Van Ha to 20 years in prison for the crime of Illegally transporting drugs./.
