Dramatic draw with Croatia, Italy enters the round of 16 of EURO 2024
A 98th-minute goal helped Italy draw 1-1 with Croatia to secure a ticket to the round of 16 of EURO 2024, while Modric and his teammates were at risk of being eliminated.
The match was a display of top tactics as well as special emotions until the last second.
Croatia and Italy both had good chances to score in the first half. However, the excellence of the two goalkeepers caused the first half to end without a goal.

Croatia were awarded a penalty when the ball hit Davide Frattesi's hand. Luka Modric was unable to beat Donnarumma's excellent performance in the Italian goal.
Modric immediately made amends with a rebound to open the scoring, right after Donnarumma's superb reflex save from Sucic's close-range shot.
Modric and his teammates thought they had secured a ticket to the round of 16. However, Mattia Zaccagni's goal in the 8th minute of injury time silenced Croatia and Italy followed Spain's lead to advance.
Italy will face Switzerland in the round of 16. Meanwhile, Croatia only has a theoretical chance of advancing, as it depends on many other opponents.
Goal:
Croatia: Modric 55'.
Italy: Zaccagni 90'+8.
EURO 2024: Spain wins all matches in the group stage
Defeating Albania 1-0 in the third match on the morning of June 25, Spain is the only team to win and keep a clean sheet in the Euro 2024 group stage.
The Spanish team has already secured a ticket to the round of 16 of EURO 2024 after 2 matches, so they used many players who are usually on the bench in the starting lineup against Albania to preserve their strength. Although playing with a reserve team, coach Luis de la Fuente's team still dominated the opponent.

Controlling the ball up to 60%, making 16 shots and scoring the only goal of the match by Ferran Torres in the 13th minute, the Spanish team won 1-0. This achievement also helped Spain become the only team to win and keep a clean sheet in the group stage.
According to the tournament rules, Spain will face the third-placed team with the best record in Group A, D, E or F in the round of 16. Meanwhile, with the second place in Group B, defending champions Italy will face Switzerland in the knockout round.
