Opening ceremony of Ho Tong Thoc temple

(Baonghean.vn) - On January 9 and 10, the streamThe Ho family in Tho Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district (Nghe An) solemnly organized a festival at the temple of the first-ranking scholar Ho Tong Thoc to commemorate their roots.

It has become a custom that in the first days of spring, along with thousands of festivals across the country, on the 9th and 10th of January, the Ho family of Tam Tho village, Tho Thanh commune, in coordination with the People's Committee of Tho Thanh commune and the people, solemnly held a festival to commemorate the merits of their ancestors.

The first laureate Ho Tong Thoc was the first person to pass the imperial examinations of the famous Ho Tam Cong family, bringing glory to the Ho family and to the homeland of Vietnam.

He was an official with the title of Royal Academy Scholar and concurrently held the position of Criminal Inspector. His son and grandson, Ho Tong Don and Ho Tong Thanh, also passed the imperial examinations and made many contributions to the country. They were awarded many royal decrees by the Le and Nguyen dynasties.

Descendants from everywhere come to burn incense to remember their roots.

Thus, in addition to being a place to worship Ho Tong Thoc, the relic is also a place to commemorate some artifacts and the feelings of his descendants, friends and the former state towards him.

With the characteristics, nature and importance of the monument, the day25/1/1991, The Ministry of Culture and Information has issued Decision No. 154/QD-VH recognizing the Ho Tong Thoc Temple Relic as a National Historical and Cultural Relic. This is the honor and pride of the Ho family in particular, the people of Tho Thanh commune, and the people of Yen Thanh district in general.
