(Baonghean.vn) - Recently, traffic in Vinh City has shown signs of congestion, especially during rush hours, so the city has a policy of expanding turns and routes at important intersections. However, due to the rush to implement the project at the end of the year, city residents are concerned that the progress will not be guaranteed before Tet.

The intersection of Nguyen Van Cu and Le Hong Phong streets is preparing to be paved with asphalt.

The project "Opening right turns before traffic lights at important intersections and crossroads in Vinh city" was approved for investment according to Decision No. 5038/QD.UBND-GT dated October 2015 on approving the Economic - Technical Report on construction works and Decision No. 5782/QD.UBND-GT dated December 10, 2015 on approving the Plan for selecting construction contractors.

After completing the basic construction investment procedures, the winning construction bid belonged to Vinh Urban Infrastructure Company.

The total investment of the project is 14,145 billion VND, of which construction is more than 8.6 billion VND, the rest is site clearance and other costs. Site clearance started in November 2015, up to now, the Project Management Board and related units have actively cleared the site and constructed the project. However, up to now, the work is quite chaotic.

Mr. Bui Duc Loc, Director of Vinh Urban Infrastructure Joint Stock Company, said: In the past time, all units have been working very actively despite not having capital. Of the 9 traffic intersections, 5 important intersections will be completed before Tet, and some others will be completed after Tet. The reason is that at the intersection of Phan Boi Chau - Le Loi - Nguyen Sy Sach - Mai Hac De (Huu Nghi Hotel), when clearing the land, there was a main drainage ditch made of reinforced concrete located under the road, so a replacement reinforced ditch had to be constructed, while weather conditions and time did not allow, so the unit had to restore the ground for convenient travel.

However, the intersection of Nguyen Sy Sach Street and Mai Hac De Street will still be completed before December 22 of the lunar calendar. The turns from Le Loi Street to Nguyen Sy Sach Street, from Mai Hac De Street to Phan Boi Chau Street and from Phan Boi Chau Street to Le Loi Street, due to the design, there is not much time left to complete before Tet, so it will not be implemented, it is expected to be constructed after Tet 2016.

At other intersections such as the Maximax supermarket intersection, there are drainage ditches that can withstand the force, so the progress cannot be guaranteed to be completed before Tet because it affects the city's water supply and drainage.

By January 31, 2016 (ie December 22 of the lunar calendar), if the above volumes are not completed, Vinh City People's Committee will direct the Project Management Board and the construction unit to organize the cleaning, restoration, and sanitation of the road surface and sidewalks so that people can welcome the Lunar New Year 2016, ensuring safety and urban beauty.
