Inauguration of 'Sunflower House' for victims of human trafficking
(Baonghean.vn) - On July 25, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held the inauguration ceremony of the "Sunflower House" project - a temporary shelter to reintegrate victims of human trafficking in the Central region into the community.
The "Sunflower House" project - a temporary shelter for reintegrating victims of human trafficking in Central Vietnam, funded by the British Embassy in Vietnam through the Blue Dragon Children's Organization, was approved by the People's Committee of Nghe An province in Decision No. 5631/QD-UBND dated November 14, 2016.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Steph Lysaght - Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Vietnam; Ms. Caitlin Wyndham - Head of Resources and Partnerships, Blue Dragon Children's Foundation. On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrade Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of the province. |
The project is built on the campus of Nghe An Provincial Social Work Center; with a total investment of nearly 5 billion VND. After more than 6 months of construction, the project has been completed on schedule.
“Sunflower House” will be put into use to help implement training courses to improve the capacity of competent agencies, regional and community officials on anti-human trafficking activities; provide psychological counseling services, education and training, medical care, recruitment, etc. to support the reintegration of victims and those at risk of becoming victims of human trafficking in the Central region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: This project is really necessary and meaningful in helping and supporting victims of human trafficking to reintegrate into the community.
On behalf of the provincial government and people of the beneficiary areas, we would like to thank the British Embassy in Vietnam and the Blue Dragon Children's Organization for sponsoring Nghe An for this meaningful humanitarian project; at the same time, we request that the organizations continue to support the development and effective exploitation of activities for people in the area.
This project is not only a symbol of the relationship between the two countries, the United Kingdom and Vietnam, but also has profound humanitarian significance. Therefore, immediately after being handed over, it is recommended that the Provincial Social Work Center coordinate with the British Embassy and the Blue Dragon Children's Organization to implement activities and use this project for the right purpose and effectively. Relevant departments and agencies should focus on directing the Social Work Center and the Blue Dragon Children's Organization to implement activities in accordance with regulations, in order to serve the people better and better./.
