Earlier, on the morning of July 30, Mr. Trung took his wife and children to the beach near his house with some acquaintances. At 6am, Mr. Trung heard cries for help from afar. He then swam out and saved 3 children, while Mr. Nguyen Truong Trung swam out and saved 1 child.
The Nghi Hai ward secretary said that when he swam out, the first person he met was a 12th grade female student. Seeing that she was only a little panicked and had drunk some water, he told her to calm down and swim to shore. He headed offshore and approached a 10-year-old boy who was struggling, so he helped him to the surface so he could breathe. At the same time, Mr. Trung heard the cries of three other children, all three of whom were sinking. After a few seconds of thinking, he calmed the boy down and told him to try to kick his feet to stay afloat, as someone was coming to rescue him.
Having said that, he pushed the child a little further towards the shore, while he swam towards the three exhausted children at a depth of about 2m. He swam behind, using both hands to lift and push the three children towards safety. Of the remaining two victims, one was a female student who swam to shore on her own, the other was saved by her father.
The entire process took place within 15 minutes. The group of 6 students aged 8-18 were all rescued safely to shore./.
