(Baonghean) - AboutNghi Phong, Nghi Loc district in the historic days of August, we clearly felt the rise of a countryside rich in revolutionary tradition. Now Nghi Phong is gradually changing with rapid, comprehensive and steady development.

The road to Nghi Phong commune is now wide, with rice fields on both sides, and spacious high-rise tiled-roof houses looming. The revolutionary countryside of the past has changed a lot today. Stopping at Phuong Cuong Temple (a national historical and cultural relic), we heard about the proud historical milestones of Nghi Phong. Nghi Phong people have a passionate love for their country and were early awakened to the revolution.

In June 1930, the first My Chiem Party cell with 6 party members was established in Phuong Cuong Temple. Phuong Cuong Temple was also the place where many cadres, party members, and the Central Region Party Committee worked. When the Soviet drums 30-31 sounded, under the leadership of the party cells, the revolutionary movement in Nghi Phong countryside developed strongly. Nghi Phong people rose up to demand tax reduction, fight against oppression and exploitation, culminating in the August Revolution of 1945. On December 12, 1953, according to the Resolution of the Inter-Zone IV Administrative Resistance Committee on administrative unit separation, Ngu Hai commune, Nghi Loc district was divided into 3 administrative units: Nghi Phong, Nghi Hai, Nghi Xuan and the name Nghi Phong commune has been there since then.

During the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, Nghi Phong people mobilized all resources, ready to meet all needs for human and material support for the frontline, contributing to the cause of national liberation.

Today, following the tradition of the revolutionary countryside, Nghi Phong has overcome difficulties, exploited local strengths to break through, and built a bright new look. With the policy of changing crop structure, shifting crop seasons, applying science and technology to production, from Nghi Phong's land producing 2 crops a year, it has now increased to 3 main crops and developed crops with high productivity and economic value. The commune has also built a model rice field for high income in Phong Hoa and Phong Dien hamlets with an area of 3 hectares; 2 color production fields in Phong My and Phong Yen hamlets with an area of 2 hectares.

Nghi Phong has 4 craft villages recognized by the province: Phong Canh, Phong Anh, Phong Dien rattan and bamboo weaving for export and Phong Phu do paper. In addition, many new industries such as electronic repair, mechanics, transportation, have also been formed, creating jobs for many workers. Thanks to that, the poverty rate of the commune decreased to 9% by the end of 2012, the average income per capita is 21 million VND/person/year; the average economic growth rate is 11 - 12%.

Thanks to economic development and people's solidarity, the Party Committee has mobilized resources to invest in building infrastructure and welfare projects, making the countryside more and more prosperous. In recent years, many infrastructure projects have been built in Nghi Phong. The rural traffic system has been invested in concrete, basically meeting NTM standards. Currently, the commune is focusing on investing in intra-village and intra-field traffic.

Implementing the new rural construction program, in the first 6 months of 2013, the whole commune donated 3,435m2 of garden land to build rural roads, demolished more than 200m of fences, 1,600m2 of agricultural land to expand the campus and the hamlet cultural house. High-rise schools were built, of which the Primary School and Kindergarten met national standards, striving to build a National Standard Secondary School by the end of 2013, the commune met national standards on health; 12/22 hamlets and 3 schools and medical stations were recognized as cultural villages and units.

Along with the leadership in economic development and improving people's lives, the Party Committee of the commune also regularly pays attention to and takes care of building a strong political system. The political security situation and social order and safety are maintained and stable, the people of all religions and ethnicities unite to build their homeland. The Party Committee has achieved clean and strong status for 7 consecutive years, and has been recognized by Nghi Loc District Party Committee as a typical exemplary Party Committee for 4 consecutive years...
