Prosecuted 4 subjects who went to the protective forest to cut wood to build houses

On January 25, the Investigation Police Department of Ky Son District Police announced that the unit had just issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute four suspects Vu Ba Mua, Vu Ba Xo, Vu Ba Ha and Vu Ba Tong (all residing in Huoi Giang 3 village, Tay Son commune, Ky Son district) to investigate the crime of "Violating regulations on exploitation and protection of forests and forest products" according to the provisions of Article 232 of the Penal Code.

Around the beginning of October 2020, Vu Ba Mua discovered a sa mu tree that had been cut down a long time ago, so he invited Vu Ba Xo, Vu Ba Ha and Vu Ba Tong to use a chainsaw to cut it into pieces with the aim of bringing it home to build a house.

After 2 days, the subjects sawed 24 planks measuring (3m x 18m x 0.9m), 36 square beams measuring (3m x 0.1m x 0.05m). Vu Ba Mua hired people to transport the wood to the village and then divided it equally among Xo, Ha and Tong.

The total volume of wood that the subjects sawed was 1,526 m³According to the appraisal conclusion of the Forest Industry Research Institute under the Vietnam Forestry Science Institute, the sawed wood belongs to the type of sa mu dau (sam moc dau), belonging to group IA "list of endangered and rare forest plants" according to Resolution No. 06/2019/ND-CP dated January 22, 2019 of the Government.

During the investigation, the subjects confessed and admitted all their actions./.
