Prosecuted and temporarily detained 5 people related to land violations in Cua Lo town
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 24, the Investigation Police Agency of Nghe An Province issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and issue an arrest warrant to temporarily detain 5 people related to land violations in Cua Lo town.

Five people were prosecuted and temporarily detained, including: Mr. Doan Tien Dung (born in 1964) - Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Lo town; Mr. Phan Cong Doi (born in 1977) - Deputy Chief of Office of Cua Lo Town Party Committee, former Head of Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Cua Lo town; Mr. Nguyen Chi Nguyen (born in 1971) - Head of Department of Justice, former Head of Department of Finance, Cua Lo town; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung (born in 1962) - former Director of the Land Fund Development Center of Cua Lo town; Mr. Hoang Khac Truong (born in 1972) - residing in Nghi Thu ward, Cua Lo town.

Previously, according to information reflected by the people about violations in the process of land recovery and resettlement land arrangement in Cua Lo town, under the direction of the leaders of Nghe An Provincial Police, the Department of Police Investigation of Crimes on Corruption, Economy, Smuggling, and Environment conducted investigation and verification.

During the investigation, the authorities determined that: From January 2020 to June 2022, the People's Committee of Cua Lo town received and processed 53 applications for land recovery and resettlement of citizens to implement projects in the town. 53 plots of land (total area of 17,306.83m²) were recovered and 85 plots of land (total area of 22,282.6m²) were resettled for these households.

During the implementation process, the people involved committed many violations, showing signs of crime, specifically: Land recovery without sufficient basis according to the provisions of the Land Law; in compensation work, implementation was not in accordance with the prescribed order and procedures; resettlement land was arranged for the wrong subjects, exceeding the limit; determining resettlement land prices lower than the regulations...
Currently, the Police Department investigating crimes related to corruption, economics, smuggling, and the environment is continuing to expand the investigation of the case. The Police Department of the Provincial Police Department informs the collectives and individuals involved in the violations at the People's Committee of Cua Lo town to voluntarily report to receive leniency under the law.
