Two more suspects prosecuted in the A92 gasoline sales ring of poor quality

(Baonghean.vn)- The Investigation Police Agency of Nghe An Province Police has prosecuted two more suspects related to the ring that mixed and consumed more than 2 million liters of substandard A92 gasoline.

On the afternoon of November 2, information from the Department of Investigation Police on Economic and Positional Crimes (PC46) of the Provincial Police said that the investigation agency had initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Tran Van Tuan (Tuan is the son of the Director of Kien Luc private enterprise, Quynh My commune, Quynh Luu district) to investigate the act of producing and selling counterfeit goods.

On the same day, defendant Phan Thi Thanh (Thanh Ngu Company Limited, Ngoc Tan hamlet, Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau district) was also prosecuted to investigate the act of deceiving customers.

The two defendants Thanh and Tuan were part of a ring that mixed and consumed more than 2 million liters of substandard 92 gasoline that was busted by the joint force in early October 2017.

Previously, on October 30, the Nghe An Police Investigation Agency issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Nguyen Van Tuan (born in 1985) and Nguyen Van Ky (born in 1965), both residing in Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau district, for 3 months to investigate the crime of "Producing and trading in counterfeit goods".

As reported by Nghe An Newspaper, on October 10, the investigation team of the Provincial Police, Nghe An Department of Science and Technology and Department A71 of the Ministry of Public Security caught red-handed two companies, Thanh Ngu Company Limited and Kien Luc Private Enterprise, producing substandard A92 gasoline.

Authorities determined that the amount of "dirty" gasoline sold by these two businesses was up to 2 million liters in the period from August 2017 to present.

Specifically, the method of the group producing substandard A92 gasoline is to mix gasoline with solvent at a ratio of 50% real A92 gasoline + 50% solvent and colorant and then smuggle it into the market to sell for profit. According to the sales value-added invoice, the price of each liter of solvent is 10,600 VND, while the retail price of A92 gasoline is nearly 18,000 VND/liter.

The results of testing 12 gasoline samples from gas stations that are said to import goods from Kien Luc enterprise show that 11/12 samples do not meet the quality standards according to the National Technical Regulation QCVN 1:2015/BKHCN on gasoline, diesel fuel and biofuel. The quality criterion of the 11 tested samples is the Octane number - a quantity that characterizes the anti-knock ability of gasoline.

Expanding the investigation, after collecting documents and evidence, the Investigation Police Agency of Nghe An Province successively initiated criminal proceedings, prosecuted the accused, and arrested the above subjects.
