Prosecution of the case of a girl whose body was dismembered and stuffed into a suitcase and thrown into a river in Da Nang

Colonel Tran Muu - Deputy Director of Da Nang City Police said that the Investigation Police Department has decided to prosecute the case of a Chinese girl who was murdered and stuffed into a suitcase and thrown into the Han River.

The victim was Bao Dan Ping (born 1990).

Police take suspect's statement

“We are temporarily detaining the male suspect, who has admitted his actions. As for the woman, the investigation agency is continuing to take statements to clarify whether her actions are related to the case or not,” Colonel Muu informed.

According to the initial investigation, Xiao Qui Ping (born in 1993) and his girlfriend Qui Li (Chinese nationality) entered Vietnam and participated in gambling at the Crowne Plaza Danang casino (Ngu Hanh Son district). Here, Ping won some money and went to the casino regularly.

In Da Nang, Qui Li met his close friend, the victim Bao Dan Ping, and told him about Xiao Qui Ping's winnings in gambling. Bao Dan Ping immediately wanted to contribute money for Xiao Qui Ling to play with the principle of winning and losing, split equally, and was accepted.

On December 26, Xiao Qui Ping won $34,000 gambling and gave half to the victim. On January 4 and 5, the suspect received $61,000 from Bao Dan Ping to continue gambling but lost it all, so he had to ask for it back. The two sides then had a conflict and argument.

At around 4:30 p.m. on February 6, Bao Dan Ping went to Xiao Qui Ping's residence on Truong Van Hien Street (Ngu Hanh Son District) to demand the money back, so the two sides got into a fight. At this time, Xiao Qui Ping used a rope to strangle and kill the victim. After that, the suspect divided the victim's body into 3 parts and put them in a nylon bag and suitcase.

That same evening, this subject carried part of the girl's body to Tuyen Son bridge and threw it into the Han river, and another part into Tran Thi Ly bridge.

In the early morning of February 7, a couple fishing near Tran Thi Ly Bridge discovered a suitcase containing the victim’s torso and reported it to the police. During the investigation, the police discovered the remaining body in a plastic bag floating on the river.

Using professional measures, at 11:00 a.m. the same day, detectives simultaneously raided a house on Truong Van Hien Street, Ngu Hanh Son District, and arrested Xiao Qui Ping.

The case is being investigated and clarified.
