Controlling the subject holding a weapon and barricading himself in the bank

At 6:50 p.m., Dong Nai province authorities controlled the suspect who was holding a weapon and barricading himself in the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development.

According to initial information, the subject is named Phan Van Tuan, born in 1991, from Hai Phong. After controlling the subject, Dong Nai police escorted the subject to Dong Nai General Hospital for treatment because the subject was injured in the abdomen.

Doctor Phan Huy Anh Vu, Director of Dong Nai Hospital, said that Tuan suffered a wound in his abdomen, suspected to have been caused by a piece of glass. Doctors are currently performing emergency surgery on the patient.

Previously, at 3:30 p.m. on December 15, Phan Van Tuan held a weapon and stormed into the Long Binh branch of the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, smashing the glass door and controlling the bank staff.

All bank employees escaped safely but Tuan continued to barricade himself inside with weapons.

Upon receiving the news, Dong Nai authorities dispatched many units including mobile police, investigation police, rapid response police, and fire fighting forces to the scene to surround the bank area.

Because Tuan was barricaded in the bank, had weapons, and was acting recklessly, when the authorities approached, he used a knife and pieces of glass to stab himself and threaten others. After 3 hours of fighting, at 6:50 p.m., the authorities were able to control the subject. Tuan's motive is still unknown.

According to initial information, no bank employees were injured in the incident. Currently, the bank branch is still blocked by the police for inspection.
