Do not abuse your position or power to use the mass media to campaign for elections.
According to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, from the date of announcement of the official list of candidates until 24 hours before the start of voting (before 7:00 a.m. on May 21, 2016), the Front at all levels will organize meetings to meet with voters to campaign for candidates for the 14th National Assembly.
Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Van Pha said that the election campaign must be conducted democratically, publicly, equally, in accordance with the law, ensuring social order and safety. Candidates for the National Assembly and People's Council in each constituency must campaign in that constituency. Election organizations and their members are not allowed to campaign for candidates. The election campaign period begins from the date the official list of candidates is announced and ends 24 hours before the start of voting (before 7:00 a.m. on May 21, 2016). At the same time, candidates for the National Assembly must present to voters their planned action plan if elected as a National Assembly deputy when answering interviews in the local media where they are running and on the National Election Council's website on the election of National Assembly deputies.
Mr. Nguyen Van Pha also pointed out the prohibited acts in election campaigns. That is, candidates for National Assembly deputies are not allowed to take advantage of election campaigns to propagate against the Constitution and the law or to harm the honor, dignity, reputation, rights and other legitimate interests of other organizations and individuals; abuse their positions and powers to use mass media in election campaigns. Candidates for National Assembly deputies are not allowed to take advantage of election campaigns to solicit funding and donations at home and abroad for their organizations and individuals; use or promise to donate, support money, property or material benefits to attract and bribe voters. "Candidates need to fully grasp the provisions of the law on election campaigns, develop action programs, and campaign through mass media," Mr. Nguyen Van Pha emphasized.
