Taxi driver sentenced to 1 year in prison for not controlling speed

On August 31, the People's Court of Nghia Dan district held a public trial of the case of Nguyen Tuan Anh, residing in Tay Ho 1 block, Quang Tien ward, Thai Hoa town, who committed the crime of "Violating regulations on controlling road vehicles."
According to the indictment, at around 9:30 a.m. on December 9, 2016, Nguyen Tuan Anh drove a car with license plate 37A - 080.83 carrying 6 people to Binh Nghia hamlet, Nghia Binh commune, Nghia Dan district (km 642 + 50m). Due to not paying attention, not controlling the speed, and driving on the wrong side of the road, he caused an accident with a car with license plate 98A - 051.96 driven by Nguyen Van Trung (born in 1964), residing in Lien Co hamlet, Dong Tam commune, Yen The district, Bac Giang province, carrying 6 people. As a result, 2 cars were damaged, some people in the car were injured and had to be taken to the emergency room and treated at the hospital.
After the accident, Le Duy Quang, Le Duy Hao, and Pham Duc Anh submitted a request for disability assessment. The Nghia Dan District Police Investigation Agency conducted a request for disability assessment. In the disability assessment conclusion No. 92, 93, and 94 of the Nghe An Province Forensic Center, the total disability rate for the three victims was 110%.
At the trial, Nguyen Tuan Anh confessed his crime. Pursuant to the 1999 Penal Code, the 2015 Penal Code sentenced Nguyen Tuan Anh to 12 months in prison and ordered Ba Thuy Taxi Joint Stock Company to compensate the victim for medical expenses, mental damage, and vehicle repair costs totaling over 220 million VND.
