Passengers advised to buy train tickets for Tet

Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company said that there are currently more than 170,000 Tet train tickets on the North-South railway route being sold publicly on the industry's ticket sales website.

Specifically, as of January 16, the railway still has about 72,400 seats for passengers who need to travel from the South to the North during the period from February 5-14 (ie from December 20-29).

After Tet, there are about 99,650 seats left for passengers who need to travel from the Northern provinces to the South from February 19 to March 3 (ie from January 4 to 16).

According to information from Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company, recently, some websites introducing and selling train tickets of Vietnam Railways have automatically adjusted ticket prices higher than the original price, causing confusion for passengers.

Passengers who bought tickets through these websites had to pay more than the price of the tickets purchased from the railway industry. Some customers who bought tickets received boarding passes with information such as ticket price, departure date, departure station, arrival station, etc. edited, so they were not valid for travel.

Faced with the above situation, the railway industry recommends that passengers should only book seats and buy tickets through the industry's official websites: https://www.dsvn.vn and www.vetau.com.vn; or at stations, ticket offices, and official agents of the railway industry announced on the websites saigonrailway.com.vn and vantaiduongsathanoi.vn.

Previously, on January 10, Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) officially put 6 newly built high-quality passenger trains into operation and provided free airline meals on the North-South railway route.

VNR leaders said that although the quality of trains and services has increased, ticket prices have not basically increased, because in addition to improving service quality at current ticket prices, the industry will simultaneously control costs to reduce to ensure no losses.

In 2018, VNR will sell holiday and Tet tickets 6 months in advance, the proceeds will be reinvested. Passengers who buy tickets early will receive discounts like airlines, because there are many train brands running.
