Encourage activities to help the poor

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 5, the Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province held a meeting on front work and ethnic and religious work in the first quarter of 2016 andSummary of the program "Tet for the poor - Binh Than 2016".

In the first quarter of 2016, the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels coordinated with member organizations to promote propaganda among members and union members about events such as the 70th anniversary of the first General Election of the Vietnamese National Assembly; the 86th anniversary of the Party's founding; propaganda before, during and after the 12th National Party Congress.... Organized many activities and movements to build national solidarity, build cultural life in residential areas, live a good life and follow good religion.

In particular, the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels have carried out many preparations for the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 term according to the law. Notably, the first consultation conference was held to agree on the structure, composition, and number of candidates for the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels; the second consultation conference was held to make a preliminary list of candidates to collect opinions from voters at their places of residence...

As for the program “Tet for the poor – Binh Than year 2016”, according to the assessment of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, it has achieved the greatest success after 4 years of organization. The result has been mobilizing over 330 collectives and individuals to support the program with nearly 43 billion VND.

The work of allocating support resources to the poor was scientifically organized by the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee in coordination with localities, limiting the number of households receiving many and those receiving none. Thanks to that, 76,748/95,205 poor households, accounting for 80.6% of the total number of poor households in the province and a number of near-poor households, policy families, and social protection beneficiaries received Tet support gifts.

According to many delegates, the results achieved were thanks to the strong leadership and direction of Party committees, authorities and political systems at all levels; the active participation of many agencies, units, business communities and philanthropists with high responsibility for the community; the timely participation of media agencies...

Some delegates also proposed some solutions to gradually reduce the situation of groups and individuals registering but not supporting, or registering a lot but the actual number of supporters is lower. In addition, the organization of the program for next year needs to be implemented earlier to mobilize more groups and individuals to support and help poor households.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 17 collectives and 7 individuals who had many outstanding achievements in the program "Tet for the poor - Binh Than 2016".
