(Baonghean.vn) - Today (September 28), a working delegation from the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control inspected and directed the work of overcoming the consequences of the recent floods in Nghe An.

Due to the influence of storm No. 6, from September 23 to the morning of September 27, Nghe An province had moderate to heavy rain with common rainfall from 87 to 582 mm, of which Quynh Luu district had the highest rainfall, causingfloodin many residential areas.

In Quynh Luu district alone, as of the afternoon of September 27, 2,953 houses were still flooded, of which 620 households had to be evacuated. According to information from the district People's Committee, Quynh Luu had 15 livestock and 8,920 poultry killed or swept away; 413 hectares of pond fish farming, 80 hectares of shrimp and 1,200 tons of salt damaged.

Acknowledging Nghe An's efforts in proactively responding to floods, at the same time, comrade Pham Duc Luan - Deputy Director General of the General Department of Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Deputy of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control directed: Local authorities and functional agencies at all levels need to focus on timely providing food, clean water and essential necessities to people in flooded areas. Direct, mobilize and encourage people to clean up and treat the environment as soon as the flood recedes to limit the outbreak of diseases.
