Strengthening the Government's Steering Committee for Administrative Reform
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Decision No. 2193/QD-TTg to strengthen the Government's Steering Committee for Administrative Reform. The Prime Minister is the Head of the Steering Committee.

The Government's Steering Committee for Administrative Reform was established on the basis of the Government's Steering Committee for Administrative Reform established under Decision No. 200/1998/QD-TTg dated October 14, 1998 of the Prime Minister.
The Government's Steering Committee for Administrative Reform (Steering Committee) is an inter-sectoral coordination organization whose function is to assist the Prime Minister in researching, directing, urging, and inspecting ministries, branches, and localities in implementing administrative reform work according to the Government's administrative reform program and plan.
The Steering Committee is allowed to use the seal of the Prime Minister and the seal of the standing body of the Steering Committee to perform the tasks and powers of the Steering Committee.
The Head of the Steering Committee is the Prime Minister. Deputy Heads of the Steering Committee include: Minister of Home Affairs (Standing); Minister, Head of the Government Office; Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.
Steering Committee members include: Deputy Head of the Government Office and leaders of a number of ministries and branches.
The Ministry of Home Affairs is the standing agency of the Steering Committee, responsible for ensuring the operating conditions of the Steering Committee, and using the Ministry's functional agencies and units to organize the implementation of the Steering Committee's tasks.
The Steering Committee is responsible for researching and proposing important policies and solutions to promote the Government's administrative reform work; giving opinions on long-term and annual administrative reform programs and plans submitted by the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Government; and assisting the Prime Minister in directing, harmonizing and coordinating among ministries, branches and localities in implementing administrative reform tasks; reviewing the contents of important projects and proposals on administrative reform of the Government, draft resolutions and decrees of the Government, decisions and directives of the Prime Minister with main contents related to administrative reform before submitting them to the Government and the Prime Minister for consideration and decision; assisting the Prime Minister in urging and inspecting the implementation of administrative reform programs and plans.
