Ky Son finds resettlement site for people affected by flash floods
(Baonghean.vn) - According to a survey by Ky Son district, the most feasible area to resettle hundreds of households in the flash flood area is the low hill located in Cau 8 village, Ta Ca commune.
After flash floods occurred in 4 villages: Son Ha, Hoa Son, Binh Son 1, Binh Son 2 of Ta Ca commune, hundreds of households were affected and lost their homes and were in areas at high risk of landslides, needing to be evacuated to safe places.
Among them, Hoa Son village, Ta Ca commune has the largest number of households affected by damage. A large part of the village's land has been leveled by rocks and soil. Therefore, many households do not dare to return to live here and must wait for the State to arrange a new resettlement area to build houses and stabilize their lives long-term.

Unfortunately, the flood completely swept away Vi Thi Mai's house and property, so the family members have had to stay with relatives for a long time, their lives have been turned upside down. The family only hopes that the State will soon arrange a resettlement area to build a house and stabilize their lives.
Mr. Vi Van Truyen - Head of Hoa Son village said that out of 240 households in the village, 72 households have lost their homes and are located in areas at high risk of landslides and need to be relocated immediately. The remaining households are also living in fear because landslides and flash floods are still at risk of recurring, so the need for resettlement will be very high. Although many houses were not swept away, in recent days they only dared to return to live during the day, and at night they stayed at relatives' houses.

“Households whose houses were swept away by the flood, collapsed, or severely damaged are still in disarray and have not been cleared of rocks and soil, so it is not known when they will be able to repair their houses for temporary residence. Given the current situation of flash floods and landslides, we hope that the Government will soon arrange new resettlement areas so that people can stabilize their lives,” said Mr. Vi Van Truyen.
Faced with that urgency, in recent days, Ky Son district has urgently surveyed and selected a suitable location to establish a resettlement area for the people.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Minh - Chairman of People's CommitteeKy Son districtsaid: After the flash flood occurred, more than 200 households in Ta Ca commune were forced to evacuate to safe places. Therefore, after the Provincial People's Committee agreed to build resettlement for the people, the district urgently found the most favorable location to plan to build resettlement for the people.

However, for the mountainous district of Ky Son, it is not easy to resettle hundreds of households, especially when the plain area only accounts for about 1% of the total area of the district. However, the district has made efforts to survey 3 locations in Muong Xen town and Ta Ca commune, in which the land area in Cau 8 village of Ta Ca commune is considered to have the most favorable conditions in terms of transportation, electricity, water, schools, etc.
According to the initial survey of the district, the current status of this area is mainly the former production land of the people, only about 1km from Muong Xen town, with a total area of about 9 hectares, enough to resettle over 200 households.
The land has many advantages, such as the sloping ground so the leveling volume is not much, the slope after leveling is not high; the land is located on the Ta Ca - Huu Kiem road which has been expanded and will be asphalted; near the primary school and kindergarten of Son Thanh village. This location is also convenient for the construction of a self-flowing domestic water project and the construction of the national power grid.

Considering that this area has many advantages, Ky Son district will soon ask for investment policy from the province. After the Provincial People's Committee approves the investment policy to build a resettlement area, the district will hire a consulting unit to survey and design to create the most optimal detailed plan, and submit it to the Provincial People's Committee for approval.
When the Provincial People's Committee approves the project, Ky Son district will immediately start constructing necessary items: building a self-flowing domestic water system; domestic electricity; village cultural house; internal roads, longitudinal and transverse drainage ditches... to soon arrange resettlement for people to stabilize their lives long-term.
According to statistics from the People's Committee of Ky Son district, the recent terrible flood has caused serious damage in all aspects. For people's houses alone, flash floods have caused damage of about 80 billion VND with 621 houses affected, of which 55 houses in Ta Ca commune and Muong Xen town collapsed and were completely swept away; 49 houses in Ta Ca and Nam Can communes were severely damaged; the rest were damaged by 50% or less. Therefore, resettlement for people is urgent for people to stabilize their lives.
