(Baonghean.vn) - After a "10 parts dead, 1 part alive" surgery, the patient who was run over by a 10-ton truck was miraculously saved by doctors from Nghe An General Hospital and Anh Son District General Hospital.

The person who was run over by a 10-ton truck was Mr. Hoang Tat Thanh (45 years old) in Hoi Son commune (Anh Son district). Mr. Thanh had an accident while working at a company in Anh Son.

"The male patient suffered multiple traumatic shock after being run over by a truck. He is in critical condition and cannot be transferred to another hospital because of the risk of death on the way."

Through a few seconds of very quick phone calls, BSCKII. Nguyen Danh Linh - Director of Nghe An General Hospital received a brief, urgent request for aid from Doctor Nguyen Thi Huong - Director of Anh Son District General Hospital. It was 2:18 p.m. on March 16.

Less than 10 minutes later, the emergency team of Nghe An General Hospital was mobilized, including 5 doctors and technicians in the following specialties: Surgery, Anesthesia, Resuscitation and Hematology, led by Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Huong - Deputy Director of the hospital, immediately set off.

The blue-plate ambulance of Nghe An General Hospital was lit up with its siren sounding continuously, signaling for emergency use on the Vinh - Anh Son route. On the ambulance, consultation calls between the two hospitals were continuously made.

“Transfer the patient to the operating room immediately, prepare blood, continuously transfuse blood, perform ultrasound at the bedside, and actively resuscitate the patient” - every instruction from the doctor at Nghe An General Hospital was quickly understood and implemented by the doctors at Anh Son Hospital in an effort to maintain the patient's life while waiting for the doctor from the provincial hospital to come and assist.

Traveling more than 100 km in the cold rainy afternoon, after less than an hour and a half, the emergency medical team from another hospital arrived at Anh Son General Hospital and quickly performed emergency surgery on the patient.

The surgical team doctors said: The patient suffered from multiple trauma shock, was in a very critical condition, and his blood pressure dropped rapidly, so he could not be transported to a higher level. The patient suffered from complex injuries including: extensive skin damage to the perineum and posterior thigh, exposed testicles; complex pelvic fracture, rupture of the biceps femoris muscle, adductor muscle; and complete rupture of the bladder. Accompanied by crushing of the entire left forearm. A lot of blood and fluid in the abdomen.

"The two important issues facing our team were to handle the surgical and resuscitation issues during and after surgery. On one hand, the surgical team ligated the internal iliac arteries on both sides to stop the bleeding, cut and cleaned the crushed tissue in the perineum, tried to preserve the left arm, sutured the ruptured bladder, and made an artificial anus. On the other hand, the team actively performed resuscitation, blood transfusion, maintained hemodynamics, and anesthesia to ensure the best conditions for the surgery. 4 hours later, the surgery was completed, the patient had passed the most dangerous stage" - a doctor who performed the surgery said.

After the surgery, the anesthesiologists continued to stay at Anh Son Hospital to closely monitor the patient's condition. By 11 p.m. the same day, when the critical stage was over, the patient was transferred to Nghe An General Hospital for further post-operative resuscitation. After a week of treatment, close monitoring, and nearly 5 liters of blood transfusion at the Surgical Intensive Care Department, patient Thanh improved day by day and was transferred to the Orthopedic Trauma Department for treatment.

Moved by the disbelief that he could be saved by doctors after a terrible accident right at the company where he was working, Mr. Thanh shared: “After fainting after the accident, I only had time to remember the last words of Ms. Huong - Director of Anh Son General Hospital encouraging me: “Try to hold on. I have called the doctors from the upper level to save you.”

"Opening my eyes after days of deep coma, I looked at my condition, looked around the hospital room with all the modern equipment, I thought I was in Hanoi. But no, the people who saved my life were the doctors and nurses at the Provincial Hospital. In the physical pain, I suddenly thought, I was lying in bed, while my wife and children out there did not dare to sleep, and the doctors and nurses did not stop monitoring and treating me for a moment because they were worried about the lives of patients like me, so I had to live. And yes, today, I am alive...".

The success of this surgery once again affirms the important role of timely and smooth coordination in the coordination of medical lines and emergency care outside hospitals./.
