Bank interest rates of Big4 group

Today, February 24, 2025, interest rates at banks have not changed compared to last week. Notably, the Big4 group - including Agribank, Vietcombank, VietinBank and BIDV - still maintains the lowest interest rates on the market. This is also the group of banks with the most stable interest rate policy in recent times, despite the fact that joint stock commercial banks have continuously adjusted interest rates in the past two years.

Since the beginning of 2025, Agribank is the only bank in the Big4 group to adjust deposit interest rates. Specifically, on January 3, 2025, this bank slightly increased 0.1%/year for 3-9 month terms, while decreasing 0.1%/year for 12-36 month terms.

BIDV most recently adjusted deposit interest rates on July 22, 2024, increasing 0.1%/year for 24-36 month terms.

VietinBank also changed interest rates on June 3, 2024, increasing 0.2%/year for terms of 1-11 months.

Vietcombank is the bank with the longest interest rate retention period among the Big 4. Vietcombank's last change was in April 2024, meaning that the bank has not adjusted its interest rate for nearly a year.

Among the Big 4, Vietcombank maintains a lower interest rate than the other three banks and lower than the market average. Currently, the highest interest rate at Vietcombank is 4.7%/year for a 24-month term, while the 12-18 month term is 4.6%/year.

BIDV and VietinBank currently have quite similar interest rates for many terms. For short-term deposits, these two banks apply interest rates of 2%/year for terms of 1-2 months, 2.3%/year for terms of 3-5 months, and 3.3%/year for terms of 6-11 months. For terms of 12-18 months, both banks maintain the rate of 4.7%/year, equal to the general market level.

However, for longer terms, there is a small difference between BIDV and VietinBank. VietinBank is currently the bank with the highest interest rate in the Big4 group for 24-36 month terms, listed at 5%/year. Meanwhile, BIDV applies 4.9%/year, slightly lower than VietinBank but still higher than Vietcombank.

Agribank alone has the highest interest rate among the Big4 for terms under 24 months. This bank lists interest rates of 2.4%/year for terms of 1-2 months, 3%/year for terms of 3-5 months, and 3.7%/year for terms of 6-11 months. For terms of 12-18 months, Agribank applies a rate of 4.7%/year, equal to BIDV and VietinBank. However, for terms of 24-36 months, Agribank's interest rate is only 4.8%/year, lower than VietinBank but still higher than Vietcombank.

In general, each bank in the Big4 group has its own interest rate strategy, but Vietcombank still maintains the lowest rate, while VietinBank is the bank with the highest interest rate for long terms.

Bank interest rates at commercial banks

Among the commercial banks today, PVcomBank is leading with an interest rate of up to 9%/year for a 12-month term. However, to enjoy this interest rate, customers must deposit at least 2,000 billion VND. This is the highest interest rate on the market today, but not everyone can participate because the deposit amount is very large.

HDBank currently applies interest rates from 7%/year for 12-month terms and up to 8.1%/year for 13-month terms, for customers depositing from 500 billion VND or more. This is an attractive interest rate for those who have large deposits and want to maximize profits over the long term.

MSB (Maritime Bank) also offers attractive interest rates, up to 8%/year for a 13-month term and 7%/year for a 12-month term. In particular, this interest rate applies to both new customers and customers who automatically renew their savings, increasing flexibility in choosing savings products.

Vikki Bank currently applies an interest rate of 7.5%/year for a 13-month term, but requires a minimum deposit of VND200 billion. Although this interest rate is lower than PVcomBank or HDBank, it is still a worthy option for customers with strong financial capacity.

In addition to regular savings packages, many banks are implementing online savings programs with attractive interest rates.

Eximbank is currently the bank with the highest online interest rate, reaching 6.5%/year for a 24-month term. Although not as high as the rates above 7% at joint stock commercial banks, this is still higher than the interest rates at the counter of major banks such as Vietcombank or BIDV.

BVBank also listed online savings interest rates of up to 6.45%/year for a 24-month term.

Timo by BVBank has an interest rate of 6.3%/year for the same term.

These interest rates are attracting the attention of many customers who want to maximize profits without having to go directly to the bank to deposit money.
