(Baonghean.vn) - The charity art program "Bringing singing to the sick" was conceived by doctors of Nghe An General Hospital and has been carried out 4 times. Not only did it bring great spiritual encouragement to the patients, but the money raised from this program has helped many poor patients have the opportunity to receive treatment, and many patients and their families in difficult circumstances have free meals.

It can be seen that every time they watch a music program held right in the hospital lobby or in the large hall, the patients in the hospital are very excited. They really forget the sad, desperate moments, forget the pain caused by the illness. Many touching stories have taken place right on this stage. The affection between doctors and patients, thanks to that, becomes more attached, more shared.

Ms. Nguyen Bich Thao - Deputy Director of the Hospital's General Service Center shared: Every day, there are 1,500 to 1,600 inpatients at the hospital. Most of them are poor patients. Many people have serious illnesses and long treatment periods, so their families fall into poverty. Based on that understanding and sharing, the hospital's staff have come up with many solutions to help them, including charity activities. And "Bringing singing to the sick" is also one of those many charity activities.

Ms. Nguyen Bich Thao - Deputy Director of the Hospital's General Service Center:

"We want to say that it is not only the injections and pills that will help them revive, but also the joy, excitement and help from the community that will give the patient more opportunities to quickly return to normal life."

Doctor Le Manh Ha (Department of Nephrology), a member of the Hospital's Performing Arts Team, said: "After each working day, even after shifts, many doctors and nurses eagerly go to the hall to practice performing arts in preparation for the night show (usually once every 3 months)."

Doctor Vo Dung (Department of Microbiology Testing):

“We hope to bring spiritual medicine to patients. And it is the joy and excitement of patients participating in the shows that gives us joy and motivation.”

People's Artist Hong Luu, who closely follows this activity at the Hospital, once confided that she was very happy and moved to participate in this meaningful program. Whenever she sings for these "special audiences", she always feels moved. And it is the aspirations in their hearts, their determination and emotions that have helped her understand the happiness of being healthy.

There have been patients who have just escaped the scythe of death like patient Vi Luu Binh (Cua Nam Ward, Vinh City) who was hospitalized with an infection due to a lung abscess, but she asked to sing at the music exchange night. Sitting in a wheelchair, she sang her sweet song as a thank you to the doctors. Afterwards, her son ran up to the stage to hug his mother, asking to sing the song "Dear Mom" for her and everyone.

There are patients with late-stage cancer, but thanks to good care and treatment, they have more time to live happily and healthily. They asked to stand on stage to thank the doctors with poems and songs. Patient Van Huy Linh in Quynh Di (Hoang Mai) is an example. Although his voice is no longer strong, when the song "The shirt my mother patched in the past" by musician Nguyen Van Ty was played, the whole stage fell silent because of the overwhelming emotions.

Through 4 times of organization in 2016 and early 2017, the program received direct support right on the show night and from organizations and individuals with a total amount of 200 million VND. Along with the amount of money contributed from the charity box fund and some other contributions, the Hospital's Social Assistance Board supported over 15,000 meals for 5,500 poor patients treated at the hospital, supported the payment of hospital fees, and ambulance transport for many cases of patients.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Duong (father of patient Nguyen Huu Phuc) received valuable help from the program Bringing singing to the sick.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Duong, Hamlet 11 Nam Trung, Nam Dan:

..."23 years of taking my child to the hospital, 23 years of my attachment and appreciation for the white coats of the doctors. The hospital visit last January was my child's last. He is no longer here, but I have witnessed all the greatest efforts that the doctors have made for my child. Not only the best medicines, the best doctors have come to my child these days, not only the stressful interdisciplinary consultations, but also the free rides, free hospital fees, and meals for father and child.

That made me, a soldier who shed his blood on the battlefield, feel at peace, that the sacrifices would not be forgotten. It can be said that during my child's last treatment in his life, for the first time, my child had moments of happiness. Even though he was born lying in one place, only knowing how to scream, everyone said he was a thoughtless person, but I - a father who has held my child in my arms for 23 years, listening to every breath of my child, can confirm that the first time he knew happiness was the first time he saw a concert right in the hospital lobby.

Forever, I want to remember that moment in the long 23 years. It awakened in me, that singing can soothe the pain, that when people still want to sing, they still love this life. The doctors, who were busy in the night shift recently, took off their white coats, to transform into actors.

Patients who, just a few days ago, were in critical condition in the emergency room, seemingly with no chance of survival, returned with enthusiasm on stage. Those voices blended together, as if they were entwined, as if they were supporting.

The program is special in that it was initiated and also implemented by the hospital's doctors. My child and I were very lucky to receive valuable money from the program "Bringing singing to the sick". That was the first and last time in my life that my child got to see a performance. And I believed that it was also the first time my child knew happiness!"
