Purifying the Party: Must do it thoroughly, not half-heartedly
To strengthen people's trust in the Party, Party discipline must be strictly enforced. All Party members, regardless of level, are equal before Party discipline.
During the four working days, the 3rd Conference of the 12th Central Committee discussed and gave opinions on perfecting a series of regulations and rules as a basis for the Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Central Inspection Committee as well as each of the highest leaders of the Party and State to better perform their duties.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also affirmed that implementing these regulations well will contribute to maintaining strict discipline and order of the Party. The majority of Party members and people strongly agree and believe that this is a necessary task to continue to improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party, thereby strengthening the people's trust in the Party.
Mr. Nguyen Tuc, member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, said that the 3rd Central Conference correctly and accurately addressed the practical needs, as well as the expectations of Party members and people in the current situation. The Conference focused on discussing the Working Regulations of the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Central Inspection Commission; Regulations on the implementation of the Party Charter, Regulations on inspection, supervision and Party discipline work; introduction of high-ranking leaders... In general, the Central Committee discussed solutions to consolidate and improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party. Because, if Party discipline is not strengthened, the Party's fighting strength is enhanced, including improving the responsibility and moral qualities of Party members, especially those with positions and power, it will be difficult to consolidate and increase the people's trust in the Party's leadership.
Mr. Nguyen Tuc also highly appreciated the Central Committee's revision and supplementation of the Working Regulations, which stipulates the responsibilities and powers of the Central Inspection Committee in inspecting and supervising the asset declaration of officials under the management of the Politburo and the Secretariat.
"This Central Committee proposed to amend and supplement the charter, promulgate stricter regulations on the issue of supervision and inspection. In particular, the people and Party members welcome the inventory of assets and income sources of senior officials, especially those in charge of sectors and positions closely related to money. I think that the Central Committee's discussion is good, but the question is how to implement it? In my opinion, to do it, it must be done from the Central Committee down. We must clean up the cadre team, cadres from the Central Committee down to the grassroots must be exemplary. We must resolutely do it, without excluding anyone. Only then will the country's laws be strict," said Mr. Tuc.
In recent times, a significant number of Party members and officials have degenerated, become corrupt, abused their power, embezzled, and committed corruption, causing pain in public opinion, reducing people's trust in the Party. Mr. Nguyen Van Duc (Cau Giay District, Hanoi) said that to strengthen people's trust in the Party, there is no other way but to strictly enforce Party discipline, so that all Party members, regardless of their level or position, are equal before the Party organization and Party discipline.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Duc, the moral qualities and lifestyle of Party members and officials are decisive factors for the Party's prestige. Therefore, along with strictly implementing the Party's Charter and regulations on inspection, supervision and Party discipline, it is necessary to improve the moral qualities of Party members and officials.
“Party members must always be exemplary and must first clean up the Party ranks. However, once regulations are in place, they must be implemented thoroughly, not left unchecked or done half-heartedly,” Mr. Duc suggested.
At this Conference, the Central Committee also agreed on the introduction of senior leadership personnel of state agencies for the 2016-2021 term. Mr. Do Quang Tuan, former Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization, expected that the new leadership team would be people who dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility and have innovative thinking to lead the country forward in the integration period.
“I have high expectations for the road ahead. Although the road ahead is fundamentally favorable, the challenges are also huge. The country is facing many difficulties. That requires the cadres leading the country in this period to have courage, to work for the people, to listen to the people, and to have the talent to steer the country in the right direction that the people are expecting,” Mr. Tuan expressed./.
