The 25th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (APEC Summit) took place this morning. 21 economic leaders are scheduled to meet behind closed doors in two sessions. President Tran Dai Quang chaired and held a press conference on the results of the meeting.

The event took place in the context that leaders attending the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) meeting reached some framework agreements on TPP 11, after the US withdrew from the original agreement.

Earlier, the President and his wife hosted the official welcoming ceremony for APEC leaders at a coastal hotel in Da Nang. After the welcoming ceremony and group photo, the leaders attended a reception and enjoyed an art program to welcome the APEC Summit.

Today is the last day of the APEC 2017 Summit Week (November 6-11) held in Da Nang, Vietnam. Many events were held during the week such as the APEC Concluding Senior Officials Meeting (CSOM), the Vietnam Business Summit (VBS), the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), the Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM), and the CEO Summit.

Vietnam also handed over the role of hosting APEC 2018 to Papua New Guinea today. President Tran Dai Quang will hold an international press conference that afternoon.
