Nghe An provincial leaders hold investment promotion conference in Japan
On September 20, 2024, a delegation of Nghe An province led by Mr. Bui Thanh An - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee visited and worked with the ASEAN - Japan Center (AJC) and organized an investment promotion conference in Japan.
The delegation also included comrades Nguyen Dinh Hung - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office; Nguyen Manh Loi, Director of the Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion; Phan Van Hoan - Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Planning and Investment and a number of infrastructure investors in Nghe An.
Working with ASEAN - Japan Center
In the morning, the delegation of Nghe An province worked with the ASEAN-Japan Center (AJC). On the AJC side, there was the participation of Mr. Kunihiko HIRABAYASHI - Secretary General of AJC and the heads of the Center's Departments.

The AJC is an intergovernmental organization established by the ASEAN Member States and Japan in 1981. The Center is tasked with promoting exports from ASEAN Member States to Japan and promoting investment and tourism; Human resource exchange between ASEAN Member States and Japan through conferences, seminars, capacity building programs, policy research and analysis, cultural diplomacy events, publishing and information services, and many other activities.

Mr. Kunihiko HIRABAYASHI - Secretary General of AJC was very pleased to welcome the delegation and shared that Vietnam is currently the country with the most joint activities with AJC Center among Southeast Asian countries. He highly appreciated the positivity of localities in proactively seeking investment opportunities.

At the meeting, comrade Bui Thanh An expressed his joy and gratitude to the leaders and staff of AJC for taking the time to receive the delegation of Nghe An province and supporting the connection and accompanying Nghe An province in organizing the Conference to promote investment of Japanese enterprises in Nghe An province in 2024.
The Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee also introduced the socio-economic development situation of Nghe An province, especially emphasizing the potential and advantages of the province in areas such as agriculture, industry, tourism and trade.
With a favorable geographical location, increasingly improved infrastructure and attractive investment policies, Nghe An is becoming a destination attracting the attention of many international investors, including Japan.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed many issues of cooperation and investment. The Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee proposed a number of areas in which the province wishes to cooperate with AJC, including calling for investment attraction, trade promotion, technical assistance, digital transformation, human resource training, exploiting tourism potential and strengths, connecting and exchanging tourism between Nghe An and Japan.
In particular, Nghe An province hopes that AJC will support it in connecting with Japanese enterprises to attract investment in the province's strengths such as processing and manufacturing industries, high-tech agriculture, and eco-tourism. Through the meeting, the Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee also expressed his hope that AJC will support the province in participating in the Expo 2025 conference organized by the International Exhibition Bureau in Osaka, Japan.
The AJC Center also committed to supporting Nghe An province through the connection of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan to connect Japanese enterprises to invest in Nghe An province, focusing on areas such as processing, manufacturing, high-tech agriculture... and activities proposed by Nghe An province.
AJC leaders also suggested that the two sides maintain regular communication channels to exchange information and promote effective cooperation.
The working session between Nghe An province and the ASEAN-Japan Center was a great success, opening up new prospects for cooperation between the two sides.
This is an important first step, marking the extensive cooperation between Nghe An province and AJC, not only an opportunity for Nghe An province to learn and access valuable experiences of Japan in socio-economic development, but also an opportunity to promote the image and potential of the province to the business community and Japanese partners, contributing to promoting the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan in the coming time.
Organizing investment promotion conference in Japan

On the same afternoon, in Tokyo, Japan, the People's Committee of Nghe An province coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and the ASEAN-Japan Center (AJC) to organize a conference to promote investment of Japanese enterprises in Nghe An province in 2024.
Attending the investment promotion conference were Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh - Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan, Mr. Kunihiko HIRABAYASHI - Secretary General of AJC, along with many Japanese enterprises and investors.
At the Conference, Mr. Bui Thanh An - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee once again introduced an overview of the province's socio-economic situation, emphasizing the potentials, strengths and attractive investment attraction policies of Nghe An.
He affirmed that Nghe An is gradually becoming one of the most attractive investment destinations in Vietnam, with an open investment environment, increasingly improved infrastructure, abundant, high-quality human resources and attractive investment incentives. Nghe An is transforming strongly, with many large-scale projects in fields such as processing and manufacturing industry, high-tech agriculture, renewable energy and tourism. Nghe An is becoming a "fertile land" for Japanese investors looking for long-term and sustainable business opportunities.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also expressed his wish to receive attention and investment from Japanese enterprises, especially in the fields of processing and manufacturing industry, high-tech agriculture, renewable energy and tourism, electricity & electronics, precision mechanics, semiconductor technology, automobiles, auto parts, motorbikes, renewable energy, food & beverage processing industry...
At the conference, the business community in Japan was interested, there were 12 questions registered before the conference and 6 direct questions at the conference, the groups of questions included: Policy to attract investment in Nghe An and industrial parks; Conditions of connecting infrastructure, logistics; Policy to attract labor and housing issues for workers; Policy on attracting investment in industrial park infrastructure; Policy on reforming administrative procedures, security, safety for investors in Nghe An province...
The groups of questions were answered satisfactorily and specifically by the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and infrastructure investors.

The representative of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan expressed his appreciation for Nghe An province's efforts in improving the investment environment and promoting economic cooperation with Japan.
The leader of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan emphasized that in 2023, the bilateral trade turnover between Japan and Vietnam will reach nearly 45 billion USD, recovering to almost the same level as before the pandemic. Of which, Nghe An province alone has 15 Japanese investment projects with a total investment capital of nearly 190 million USD in many diverse fields and industries.
With support from AJC, Japanese enterprises will have more opportunities to access information, better understand the investment environment in Nghe An, as well as receive necessary support in the process of investing and doing business in the province.
Within the framework of the conference, Japanese enterprises were provided with detailed information on projects calling for investment, priority areas for investment attraction in Nghe An, as well as special incentive policies that the province offers to foreign investors.
At the same time, industrial park infrastructure investors (Hoang Mai, WHA, VSIP) also introduced their industrial park infrastructure, environment, policies, advantages and shared experiences when investing in industrial parks.
Representatives of Japanese enterprises expressed their deep interest in investment projects in Nghe An, especially in the fields of processing industry, information technology, and clean agriculture. Many enterprises requested to learn more and wished to establish long-term cooperative relationships with the province.
The conference is not only a regular investment promotion event, but also a testament to Nghe An province’s continuous efforts in improving the investment environment and building strategic partnerships with Japanese enterprises. The success of this conference has created strong confidence, affirming that Nghe An is gradually rising to become an attractive destination for international investors, contributing to promoting the province’s socio-economic development towards sustainability and global integration.

The conference was also an opportunity for Japanese enterprises and Nghe An provincial leaders to directly exchange and discuss investment-related issues, such as processes, procedures, support policies and business environment in the province. Through this, many problems were resolved, opening up new, practical and effective cooperation opportunities.
The 2024 Conference on Promoting Japanese Enterprises' Investment in Nghe An Province, organized by the Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion, was a great success, opening a new chapter in the cooperative relationship between Nghe An and Japan.
This is not only an opportunity for Nghe An province to promote its potential, advantages and investment policies, but also the beginning of specific cooperation projects, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the province in the coming time./.
