In recent years, Nghe An has paid special attention to hunger eradication and poverty reduction, considering it one of the most important tasks. With the attention of Party committees, authorities, agencies and units, especially the response and support of businesses and philanthropists, the poverty rate has decreased from 5.54% in 2018 to about 4% in 2019.

However, up to now, the whole province still has tens of thousands of poor households, including many unfortunate lives, in dire need of the help of society.

On December 9, 2019, Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation sent a letter calling on collectives and individuals to support and help the poor to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2020.

Responding to the program, comrades in the Standing Committee, the Provincial Party Standing Committee, members of the Provincial Party Executive Committee and key officials donated 75,400,000 VND (Seventy-five million four hundred thousand VND).

According to data updated by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province, up to now, more than 30 billion VND has been donated to the Tet for the Poor Canh Ty 2020 program.
