According to the first instance verdict on July 22 of the Hanoi People's Court, due to personal conflicts, one night in early October 2018, Dao Van Lan (54 years old) carried a knife and rode his bicycle to the house of his neighbor Pham Van Huan (46 years old, Tam Hung commune, Thanh Oai) to find and beat him.

Seeing Mr. Huan sitting in the living room drinking tea and watching him play cards, Mr. Lan said: "I heard you looked down on me, do you want to die?" Mr. Huan ran to the corner of the house and was stabbed many times by Lan.
Mr. Lan attacked and injured the person who tried to stop him. Seeing Mr. Huan's son, Mr. Lan rushed forward and stabbed him, but the boy escaped. The next morning, Mr. Lan turned himself in. Mr. Huan died from acute blood loss.
In today's trial, Hanoi People's Court sentenced defendant Lan to life in prison for the crime ofMurderi.
