Exposing the perfect robbery plot of a 60-year-old woman with a passion for gambling

On April 12, the Criminal Investigation Department of Long Ho District Police, Vinh Long Province confirmed that it had just clarified a case of falsely reporting a robbery by an elderly woman over 60 years old, causing a stir in the area.

According to initial information, Long Ho District Police received a report from local residents about a robbery that occurred at the home of Mrs. Bui Thi Muoi B (born in 1953) in An Binh Commune. Immediately, the District and Commune Police were present to examine the scene and take statements from those involved.

Initially, Mrs. B reported that at around 1:00 a.m. on April 9, she and her grandson, Dang Gia B (born in 2013), were sleeping at home when suddenly two young men appeared in the house. Mrs. B described that the two young men wore masks covering their faces, wore gloves, and used flashlights to shine directly into her face.

Mrs. B also stated that the two subjects used electric wire to tie her hands and feet tightly, and smashed her head against the wall. They even threatened to kill the two grandmothers and grandchildren if she did not reveal where she hid money and valuable assets in the house. Mrs. B still seemed panicked when she confessed and said that she had shown where she hid money and gold in the house. The two subjects took all the assets and then sneaked out and escaped.

Mrs. B struggled to crawl out into the yard and call for help. Neighbors found out, rescued Mrs. B and reported it to the police.

Working with the police, Ms. B stated that the stolen property included: 10 taels of 24K gold, 8.7 taels of 18K gold and 1,200 USD, with a total value of nearly 90 million VND.

However, the police found that Ms. B's statement had many questionable points and contained many contradictions. Through the struggle, Ms. B finally admitted that she had created the fake robbery play mentioned above, and that she was both the director and the main actress.

Accordingly, Ms. B's husband is currently a craftsman for a jewelry store in Ho Chi Minh City. He sent money and gold to Ms. B to save for the family. However, Ms. B, due to her passion for gambling, owed many people money, so she had to take the money and gold her husband sent to pay off the debt. Because she was afraid that her husband would find out, Ms. B staged a false report of being robbed as mentioned above.

Mrs. B also calmly confessed that the reason she came up with the detailed and perfect robbery scenario was because she learned it from movies.

Currently, the police are clarifying and handling Ms. B.
