Consulting on the swearing-in ceremony before the National Assembly

On the morning of July 7, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, a meeting took place to collect opinions on the oath-taking ceremony of senior leaders elected by the National Assembly.

Deputy Minister Huynh Vinh Ai chaired the meeting and said that the National Assembly Chairman has directed the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to take the lead and coordinate with other agencies to complete the oath-taking ceremony for state positions elected by the National Assembly.

Article 70 of the Constitution and Article 8 of the Law on Organization of the National Assembly stipulate: After being elected, the President, Chairman of the National Assembly, Prime Minister, and Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court must swear allegiance to the Fatherland, the People, and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

At the 11th session of the 13th National Assembly, President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Hoa Binh took the oath before the National Assembly.

At the first session of the 14th National Assembly (taking place from July 20-29), the above four positions will take the oath after being elected to hold positions in the new term.

At the meeting this morning, the Department of Grassroots Culture (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) proposed the contents of the oath-taking ceremony such as: positions performing the oath-taking ceremony; location; time; decoration, delegates attending the ceremony; attire of the oath-taker; procedure; oath-taking ritual; ceremonial music; person conducting the oath-taking ceremony...

Representatives of the agencies contributed many opinions on the inauguration ceremony. After this meeting, the opinions will be compiled and submitted to the National Assembly Standing Committee, in preparation for the first session of the 14th National Assembly.

At the 11th session of the 13th National Assembly, in response to the National Assembly deputies' opinions suggesting to review some details in the oath-taking ceremony such as the position of the flag bearer should be in front of the person taking the oath, when witnessing the oath, the deputies should stand up and the presidium should stand down below to witness the oath... to ensure solemnity, Mr. Nguyen Hanh Phuc - General Secretary of the National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Office said that he will continue to study and listen to the deputies' opinions to perfect the oath-taking ceremonies./.
