The 2020 National Lotus Village Festival carries the strong Vietnamese cultural identity in Nghe An homeland

On the afternoon of September 9, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to listen to and give opinions on the preparation for the 2020 National Lotus Village Festival and the 130th Birthday Anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh. Comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired. Also attending were Comrade Ho Mau Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; leaders of provincial departments, branches, and sectors and the People's Committees of Vinh City and Nam Dan District.

Activities to celebrate the 130th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday and the 2020 National Lotus Village Festival will be held on May 19, 2020; to express the respect, gratitude and admiration of the people of the whole country for President Ho Chi Minh.

Through festival activities, we continue to propagate and educate Ho Chi Minh's ideology; promote the study and following of his ideology, morality and style; promote the image of Nghe An homeland to the whole country and internationally...

The activities to celebrate and organize the Sen Village Festival are required to be imbued with Vietnamese cultural identity in the homeland of Nghe An, creating a deep impression, being sacred, respectful, respectful, safe, economical and practical.

The theme of the festival is determined as “Sen Village Festival – Honoring the cultural values ​​and ideology of President Ho Chi Minh”, jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People’s Committee of Nghe An province, scheduled to take place from May 15 to 19, 2020 in Vinh city and Nam Dan district. Participating in the festival are mass art troupes from provinces and cities across the country.

Regarding the activities taking place at the festival, the ceremony includes the incense offering ceremony at Uncle Ho's statue in Ho Chi Minh Square and the parade to Uncle Ho's hometown; the procession of Uncle Ho's photos through the ages; the opening and closing ceremony of the Sen Village Festival.

The festival includes the Lotus Village Singing Festival program of mass art troupes from provinces and cities; photo exhibition; large-scale propaganda painting exhibition on the theme of Uncle Ho; cultural and artistic space exhibition connecting heritage areas; display and introduction of books about Uncle Ho; film week about Uncle Ho; national A-class volleyball tournament; youth camp; building tours and tourist routes to serve tourists...

At the meeting, representatives of departments, branches and localities contributed ideas to complete the plan to organize the National Lotus Village Festival in 2020 such as coordination between levels and branches; funding for organizing activities; number of participating provinces and cities.

In his speech, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested relevant departments, agencies and branches to soon estimate the budget for organizing and establishing sub-committees; and to study more carefully the space where the activities will take place. In particular, the Department of Culture and Sports needs to continue to revise the master plan to submit to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee for consideration and promulgation by the Provincial People's Committee.

Exactly 37 years ago, the National Festival “Lotus Village Singing” was first held in May 1982. After that, the Festival was upgraded to Lotus Village Festival held annually at the provincial level and every 5 years at the national level.

After dozens of times of organization, the influence of Sen Village Festival has become increasingly stronger, becoming an indispensable highlight in every annual celebration of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19), making a practical contribution to the work of preserving and promoting Ho Chi Minh's cultural values.

Realizing the value of this activity, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proposed a direction to coordinate with the People's Committee of Nghe An province, focusing on directing the development so that the Sen Village Festival is truly a Ho Chi Minh Cultural Festival with strong humanistic and popular characteristics, and at the same time becomes a brand of Nghe An tourism.
