Flag-raising ceremony for the State funeral of the late President Tran Dai Quang

On the morning of September 26, soldiers of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Command performed the flag-lowering ceremony at Ba Dinh Square, in front of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

The flag team of 3 soldiers entered the flagpole in front of President Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum to perform the flag-raising ceremony. After that, the soldiers in the flag team tied a black ribbon to the national flag. The black ribbon was tied parallel to the national flag. Then, the flag was raised 2/3 of the way up the flagpole while performing the flag-raising ceremony.

According to the announcement of the Funeral Committee, the funeral of President Tran Dai Quang will be held according to the National Funeral ceremony. The coffin of President Tran Dai Quang will lie in state at the National Funeral House No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi. The funeral will begin at 7:00 a.m. on September 26 at the National Funeral House No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi.

The memorial service will be held at 7:30 a.m. on September 27 at the National Funeral Home No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi. The burial will take place at 3:30 p.m. the same day at the President's hometown, Hamlet 13, Quang Thien Commune, Kim Son District, Ninh Binh Province.

At 5:50 a.m., the Red Flag Team marched to Ba Dinh Square, Hanoi.

Mourning bands were carried by soldiers to be attached to the national flag.

After a period of serious illness, despite the wholehearted treatment of professors and doctors at home and abroad, and the great concern and favorable conditions of Party and State leaders, President Tran Dai Quang could not survive and passed away at 10:05 a.m. on September 21 at the 108 Central Military Hospital.

President Tran Dai Quang was born on October 12, 1956; his hometown is Quang Thien commune, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province. He is a professor, doctor of law; member of the 10th Party Central Committee; member of the 11th and 12th Politburo, and deputy to the 13th and 14th National Assembly. Before being elected President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in April 2016, he was Minister of Public Security.
